    16th october 2013 edit, after the engine cap buff: removed 2 external DHS and upgrade the armor to mount a glorious XL240 engine (we only lose one DHS at the end)(less than that actually, since we remove 2*1.4 and add 2).
    The heat efficiency lost is small for an insane 20kph boost!

    Hi everyone, it's my first post, I just want to say I like the idea of this forum.

    The first build I share is nothing fancy, but the fact is I tried a lot of builds on my TDK, from 4 med pulses to 4 small pulses, as well as a mix of both, and I finally came back to the default 4 medium lasers. So it's very close to the stock variant, with only few tweaks:

    It's my favourite commando, it's really fast and with mobile arm-mounted weapons, and you need to be a trigger psychopath to overheat it. But it's still a Commando: paper armour, no JJ, weak fire power... have fun!

    Not much to say about gamestyle. Don't make mistakes, capitalize on enemies mistakes. Never fully engage especially when your team isn't at close brawl, and always be ready to disengage quickly. Classic light mech stuff.
    Just careful of what I call the "Jenner pilot mistake", ie rushing front to the enemy, all lasers on while jumpjetting... oh wait, no JJ on this one, crap, I'm stuck on his legs and he alpha-strikes me...

    Decent game from me, nothing like a huge display of skill but I think it's shows how it is playing this mech.
    Notice my mistake at ~3min, I should have disengage right after being hit by the SRM volley, especially with a streaker nearby.

    I might consider FF armor and then round down to try and add an extra DHS or two, but this is basically what I'm looking at when I buy my TDK later this week. I think most people who've played this chassis try to be different, only to come back to the basics.

    Beware of FF taking too much crits and leaving not enough room for DHS.
    With an XL210, the 2 required additional DHS, the 4 lasers and endo-steel, you have 17 free slots left and more than 3 tons. It means 3 more DHS without FF, but only 1 with it!

    Ah, fair point. You should still be able to round the armor down to 176 or 160 and get an extra DHS in, which is what I would personally do. This thing looks like it would be pretty mean.

    It's true I have 0.44 unused tons on this build.
    I would mind striping 2 armor points from the head to make it 0.5t and add an empty AMS for the lulz, but I won't take out half a ton of armor to add one more DHS - Commando already have so little armor and I almost never overheat on this mech.

    You know, normally I prefer to come up with my own custom builds for the mechs I run, to suit my play style, but I definitely think I'm going to wind up using this build for my TDK, as this build has all the refinements that I prefer in a mech I pilot. As far as the unused 0.44 tons I'm quickly learning not to mind that so much.

    Damn, that makes a lot of beer and women. I'm sure I can make room for some chicken and salami. You fight better with a bellyful.

    If you drop two points from armor in head, you can get AMS + 1ton of ammo with the expense of one DHS.

    If it's position hasn't been changed, I hate the AMS on the commando. It flashes on half of my screen, very disturbing.

    I'm not bothering with AMS until missiles get unnerfed. They're rare as it is, and easy to avoid without AMS (and if unavoided don't hit that hard).

    I like the Moonsword's build but it's kinda hot for a trigger happy guy like me, so back to the classic!
    I did a little tweaking, removed one DHS to add a BAP, and placed the DHS in the arms (first post updated to include this variant).

    Or you can add FF, you gain TWO points of armor, and trade one DHS for a BAP.

    I'm gonna increase my rating on this to 5/5 since the speed increase REALLY allows this mech to stand out. Been testing it on the MechSpecs account and it really is quite fun. I might even do a video for it!!!

    Well, despite having one less MLas than the Locust this is fun to play with, and you should watch those guys trying to catch you!

    Oh, and chances are you already have an XL240 around.
