Worst/Most Embarassing death ever

I find it very embarassing to kill myself.
I never died due to overheat. But I sure did 5-6 times due to running out of bounds.
Well, in the heat of the fight this can happen. But on one certain occasion it was because I wasn't paying attention and had Betty switched off.
I was standing outside the tunnel in Forest (village side), waiting for the enemy team. I suddenly exploded and was like "WTF hit me?", when I realized my mistake. On less heavy Mech in our ranks.

On another occasion I killed myself..... with my own streaks. Way back u could fire missiles away, no matter what. Well... PGi thought missiles should explode when hitting water. Seemed legit. I was driving the Commando when they changed the impact. One sidetorso was already open and I had an intense dogfight with a Raven on Forest behind the ship. I fired away and got instantly killed, because my own streaks exploded as soon as they left my pods, because the launcher was submeregd at this point, destroying my already damaged torso.. the ammo explosion did the rest.

Aaaaaand the winner is: Dying in a K2 after the patch set the Keybindings back to default.
I was badly damaged already and standing nearby the citadel in River, I wanted to switch from night to heat and guess what.... I planted an arty directly above me because my crosshairs where pointing at a wall in front of me....and the key I usually used for night was now the strike.... KABOOM. Also I crippled a nearby standing Blackjack and almost killed a Locust as well.

 

Any death caused by this bullshit desync issue (I've never experienced before my most recent 5 week hiatus) deserves to be in this thread as well. I'm amazed at how persistent it is

 

Played since the last patch Business as mine almost totally disappeared?

Edit: I've had a single match where I rubber banded back but compared to the pain for a few weeks before that's a huge relief.

 

Beats me, I just started playing again yesterday and literally half my games had desync issues with a few of those ruining the round entirely. At least one other person mentioned it in chat as well but there are usually 2-4 disconnects in each match that I've played.

 

Had an embarrassing kill playing HPG Manifold Conquest. We were fighting and I noticed a Commando 2D with no ECM run off to back cap us, so I tailed him in my Ember. Followed him all the way to Gamma, but he just stopped and stood there without looking around...to be cheeky, I launched an arty at his feet, and back shot him right as it went off, but it head shot him Killed him in 1 shot, he got zero damage, and no cap hehe

Edit: Ugh, died embarrassingly too. Went into a match on Tourmaline and engaged a Raven 3L and hurt him bad...thought I had 6 teammates behind me, so when a Kit Fox engaged after I let the Raven run to his teammates, I fought him.

Well, I DID have 6 teammates. With LRMs. Hiding behind walls. Got completely massacred by their team with no support at all...

 

That's odd as we've only a had a handful of lag instances in our group in a while now. Certain times seem to have more but thats when everyone and their brother/sister/dog is trying to hit a target (tournament/free mech bay etc). In fact we've only had one drop in a while who luckily managed to get back in fast while we deliberately deflected attention by sending a light on a very visible harassment pass. Definitely see other people DC'ing occasionally though. Then there were all the retards in the tournament who would deliberately DC to get in another mech fast when they realised they weren't going to get a good score.

 

Lol, yeah was on Mordor yesterday and moved fast into the crater in that Locust as thought fuck it what else can I do but draw attention. Had a massive gaggle of assaults and heavies behind me so thought they'd push after me.

In the end had to lure the red Illy back to the entrance before they would even shoot him.... then scare off the 2 lights that were sniping.... In my stock Locust-1M....

I had to literally tell them twice before they would venture in.

PS: Then I later had that embarrassing death.

 

I'm just gonna leave this here. I swear to god, this game intentionally finds the most obtuse mongs it can and specifically pairs them with me.



Entire team stood in plain sight on Tourmaline and just ate LRMs, Gauss, Autocannons, and Lasers. While I slowly tromped up in my DWF, I watched 4 guys stand completely still under focus fire without reacting. Just slowly shooting back... :angry:

Either my ELO just blows (wouldn't be surprised, after the losing streak my DWF has been on since the competition started...only won 1 game), or the selection of people at night is unconscionable...

 

I'll post a comisseration screenshot from last night when we get home and we can both sympathise....

Had 7 matches last night with 1 win and all were so utterly one sided it was painful. You'll understand when you see the other side and realise its stacked with people who topped the tournie tables this weekend. All were in Direwolves, meta SHD-2H's etc.... it was painful, particularly as I was levelling a completely new mech through its basics. Irritating thing is its a mech I feel I should be enjoying (BLR-1GHE) but getting nailed by a phalanx of Direwolves supported by meta poptarts/builds in the solo queue is not fun.

 

Oddly, something about that match flipped a switch in my brain (or maybe it's the pain killers... ) but I started having really good matches, and generally just being in a great mood after that Even when I lost, my usual game rage was just missing tonight.

I didn't really mind, I had a lot more fun this way.

 

He he good. Only thing that saved me from raging is that I'd had 6 in 7 wins earlier so it felt a bit like karma. Plus I amuse corp mates in Eve with my travails on mumble which takes the edge off as you obviously don't want to scream into the mike in frustration.

 

Running Terra Therma on my stock Nova Prime (you can guess where this is going).

We come up the ramp, on the other side of the caldera are a couple baddies, and we take our usual potshots. I fire my left arm once, wait a bit, fire it again, wait a bit more, then for inexplicable reasons fire both arms together for the third punch. Mech shut down and never got up again - reactor damage due to overheating.

Funny thing is that I didn't take a single point of damage from enemy fire.

Ouch. Only managed one heat death ever thinking about it. I'd been playing a 2 ppc Nova with loads of heat sinks. Got in a new skill un-upgraded adder and started non stop firing the paired ppc's..... Remarius killed Remarius.... ooops.

 

One time i think it was around november of last year i was leveling locusts. Frozen city, running from the tail of the drop ship towards B4 scouting for the enemy... I had a UAV and a Artilery strike on my mech. i saw the enemy and was about to run right through their ranks full speed... hit my launch UAV button and get out of there...

I hit my uav button... and right infront of me like 300 meters "OH SHIT SMOKE" and get nails 3 times running through a artillery strike... My buddies on comms are all like what happen? where are they? did you pop the uav? how did you die????? I though someone was seriously lucky with a artillery strike that day....

I dropped my own arty on my head by accident trying to launch my uav.... i then logged out of TS for the night cause there was no way i could top that type of entertainment for the unit that day...

 

I don't know if this counts, but I was using a Hunchback and scored 1 point of damage (I think with a medium laser) before I died

19-09-14 = I've just started (still trying out Trial Mechs) and I must have had 50/60+ games and at least 15-20 of them have been where I got 0 kill assists, 0 spotting assists and caused 0 damage.
Of course, one of those was a self-immolation in a Nova whilst I was practising trying firing weapon groups right at the start of a match...sadly, it wasn't even my first match in a Nova, so I really should have known better
Overall, I think I've had only 1 kill and only about 4 games where I got into triple figures for damage caused (lots of 0-30 damage games), so that's a pretty spectacular set of fail-figures.
