Funny, I came up with a similar build.
I figure when within 90m I will only use the MLs and the PPCs at longer ranges. This will help control the heat.
I will also use Cool Shot and Seismic Sensor.

I've been trying to find a good standard build for this variant, and I think this is really it. Those PPCs in the same shoulder is amazing for ridge and corner peeking. Finally something that works well for me.

    4/5 from me.

Got my fastest kill ever with this. Crimson Strait, ran to kappa, around the 1 minute mark locust peaks out at D5, alpha - dead. It was hilarious :D

Great, looks like I will have to do a guide on this build as well :D

Here is the varient I've been running for a few nights and it seems to do well. I'd love to have the LLas in the torso but I would lose crit padding with the XL engine. It does help the dps a bit because both of the large weapon groups are on the right side of the mech so you can deliver some good firepower while peeking.

Yeah, I'm with Schnaetz on the heat sinks. I did pretty much the exact same thing, but with a Std 275 and 0.5 tons more armour.

Tried this initially, but it didn't work out so well for me:

Using the same build with a few more DHS and a STD280 engine. Love it. [IMG]

Same basic layout but without dropping the CBills on Endo. Also carries BAP, which I like to use for ECM suppression if I have room.

    Going to try it now.

Seems to work fairly well. If they ever un-nerf ER PPC heat this will be an excellent build.

Edit: according the patch notes for Nov 19th, countering ECM is worth something now. If that applies to BAP, excellent bonus for the build.

2nd Edit: Applies to BAP, got extra XP/CBills for ECM suppression post patch.

yep, totally digging this. 5/5 running schnaetz' STD280 version.
High right torso energy points make me feel like a hunchback with an AC20 that doesn't die instantaneously + Cataphract 1X's amount of medium lasers. dual PPC is of course much hotter than that AC20 but whatever, it's easy to manage.

The PPCs are high mounted on the right should, making sniping over cover easy. The 19 heat sinks provide quick dissipation of heat on almost every map. The 310 engine gives you an agile mech that can track the fastest lights easily. It will never be a meta build, but I have alot of fun with it.

I think both schnaetz and DeiPax have the best of this build, one STD engine, and one XL. With the standard you obviously get better survivability, but with the XL you get an extra DHS along with roughly 10kph more speed. Well done, gentlemen.
