Yeah, he must have had singles - I didn't think of that. He overheated four times in the 2 minutes I was on board and was mostly just firing his single ERPPC as fast as it would cycle. Even on Tourmaline I'm surprised that isn't heat neutral. Now and then he'd shoot a useless salvo of missles which would spike his heat too.
Just finished their cadet period and bought a new mech maybe? Can understand the mistake as quite a few players do that with DDC's.
Just remember my first atlas. It was my second mech (first one a hunchback) and I was super happy about not having to worry about tonnage. I build something like this: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=17&l=34254887beb4e6fd033047fab55d382b3303f9da Well, the ECM used to be on the AC20 side but you cannot do that nowadays. Yes it is slow. Was putting those ammo there at first just to make room for the DHS, still thinking that they would do 2x effect like TT.
no screenshots, but during this weekend I've spotted several timberwolfs with four LRM15s+artemis. And nothing else. No, not even a TAG. You know something is broken when people abuse it to such rediculous levels...cringeworthy build indeed.
I ran one of my Summoners with a build like that (all LRM, no TAG) just to exp it up once, as a semi joke. Got 894 damage in its first match Sometimes the derpiest builds work out somehow...
Why is that abuse? I don't think its even a particularly good build. A warhawk would do the job a lot better.
Perceived abuse, for them. LRMs are obviously easy mode and a lot of people who wouldn't go past 150 damage without them just spam them instead. And yeah the build is horrible. But people going that route means quite some people are getting satisfactory results with it. Otherwise they'd try something different and those builds would be as rare as the flamer highlander or the MG/tag Atlas. Those you spot once in a while. In the last three days I've met several "LRM only" Twolfs, however... I myself am of the opinion that LRMs are just EZmode and the way out for people who have no clue on tactics/aiming to get 700+ damage games and feel proud of themselves. It's even more aggraviating because of the absolute lack of workload requires to get mass destruction games. You don't have to detect, you don't have to tag, you don't have to narc, you don't even have to expose yourself to enemy fire. You just capitalize on other's efforts and others running risks, only to point and click from behind a hill. And no I'm not talking from the receiving end here only. I've driven plenty of LRM mechs that weren't even LRM boats to know how insane they are with a team which 2 working neurons. And used as frontline support instead of long range behind-the-hill camping (builds such as my 4xMLas+TAG+3xLRM15 Twolf, which I agressively fight with in the frontlines, or the multi LRM stalker with TAG I also ran), using TAG to marc ECMs first, the massacre is inevitable. And lord helps the enemy team if someone in my team is running Narc. It's seriously disgusting to the point that I stopped driving the stalker with LRMs, and the Twolf I still use...as mass-money grinder because of the C-bill bonus. Sorry for the rant. I just can't stand EZmode tools in an online game. If someone is a scrub at the game the way to keep him happy is not to give him an EZtool, is to make it easier for him to learn how to become better. And LRMs don't do that, and ruin many battles in the meantime.
For once I remembered to take ss's ... Please never ever ever take these two fits on a lance competition weekend.. just NO! http://i1070.photobucket.com/albums/u482/Kossuth1/ScreenShot0462_zps88989379.jpg[/img]
At least he had ECM. I'm just out of a game where the Raven 3L we had (only ECM mech in our team) didn't have it fitted. he said he wanted the weight for the second SRM6 launcher. PS. the second launcher has one tube only...
I wasn't able to play at all this weekend (vacation), but if I had, I would've gladly taken out my 3L "NARC, Fark You" mech and used it in a lance. That thing is, by far, the nastiest mech I run...not because of damage, but because of overall utility. I like a lot of mechs, but that has been the most consistent one in my arsenal, provided I get a team that matches with it. I promise, it carries no SRM6's in that second tube
Don't underestimate the power of BAP combined with a well placed UAV. U will not need TAG to be successful (700+DMG) in an LRM-Only SMN....
Is that solo queue as I find in group the UAV's get shot down asap as people specifically look for them. In a single battle last night one person in our lance shot down 5 .... :whacko: Edit - coincidentally one reason I like at least some energy based arm mounted weaponry on a build.
That's because due to the challenge ppl EXPECT UAV's to be launched. After the challenge thing s will (hopefully) return to normal.
It wasn't so much the power, it was just...well, I couldn't find anything else to do with it That mech defies a lot of "easy" builds. Now I just leave it as a Splat Summoner with all SRM6+A and take it into group drops
Saw this Atlas build today, and it actually made me moan, out load, on TS . . . it was just THAT SAD! An Atlas as a dedicated LRM boat equals a waste of armor in my opinion . . . take a Catapult next time! :whacko:
Here's another interesting Atlas build, though on the plus side, it's given me an idea for what to run on a Shadowhawk.
Mmh that ones not too bad if it has a large standard engine. Its an assault mech best used charging the enemy and bearing the brunt of their fire while everyone else kills anything shooting it so ballistics and short beam duration LPL work nicely (though PPC's might be better its not that bad with all the hate here for LR Atlases).
When you put it that way, it could actually be kinda fun. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=16&l=0bfd06039f82a7395b623c10ddf638872eec4ce3
