Sometimes you need to bring an AC20. This will get it there using the same engine as my other build. If I had started here, I might have used a smaller engine, but I started on the Powerhorse and the LE300 was what was available. This works well enough though.
By tweaking the armor (I've stripped the arms, the side torso is huge compared to the arms), engine (295LE) and removing a DHS, you can fit +1 ton of ammo and, most importantly, upgrade to Artemis. Despite being tanky, it still has the weaponry of a 65 ton mech, IMHO it is preferable to pinpoint the damage as much as you can without the need to hugh your opponent...
5/5, One of the best brawling variants available, especially if you upgrade to Artemis: good overall DPS, good heat management, good speed. The downside of this build is the lack of offensive quirks, with the current fitted weapons you get only a +10% missile velocity, but at least there are very few mechs capable to fit the same loadout. Be carefull with the ammo on your left side: it tends to explode.
5/5, Excellent, but since I hate ammo-only mechs, so I reduced engine to LE275 (I had already) and added 2x ERML
5/5, I run a variation, but similar enough to not warrant a new thread. Went with the standard always-in-stock LE280, and I don't care much for the Artemis on these SRMs since I'm not using this mech as a scalpel... Unless you happen to have a 12 pound hammer shaped scalpel.
For maximum boomsplat I go: _ https://kitlaan.gitlab.io/mwoskill/...f310806c74c0000580e0100000080820102#s=Weapons Sacrifices a little speed, but with speed tweak you're going over 70 kph which is perfectly adequate.
You can also shave arms, fit a LE295 and focus the skill tree on cooldown and heat gen. _ https://kitlaan.gitlab.io/mwoskill/...f0000000000000000000000000080820102#s=Weapons If the additional torso speed is necessary to deal with smaller foes, you can ignore heat gen, a little bit of structure and high explosive skills https://kitlaan.gitlab.io/mwoskill/...f190806c64c000000000000000080820102#s=Weapons
That is a legit modification, more speed is good. For a mech that is getting in close and shooting and twisting, it is good to have some arm armor to increase longevity. The Roughneck's arms aren't the best for brawling, but they aren't terrible, if you twist they will take damage and get blown off, keeping your torsos in better shape for a bit longer. But, six to one, half dozen to the other. It is a great mech with an AC20, 2xSRM6, 1xSRM4 loadout.
