Grats! I notice those legs are still pretty armored. Get more liftoff and spread some of that damage and those 1ks come a lot more often.
This does seem a common setup to enter into the 1k club with. I'm still trying to prove that its possible with a faster engine in there. Good job! BTW, Cpt... watch what you say. Just look at his sig before risking his fury!
Since I'm retrofitting my Cataphract-3D to an all energy build with an XL300 tonight I have a spare XL320 lying around. It looks like I'm going to give this build a whirl tonight as well. Maybe it will convince me to not turn this mech into a mobile AC20 with an XL375 in it...
Don, this mech also works great as a jump sniper. It gives you some extra weight over a 3D to throw in some SRMs, more armor and gives you better speed than a HGN. Does not, however, allow for the minimal exposure you get from shoulder mounted weapons in a 3D. 2x AC/5, 2x PPC or 1x AC/10, 2x PPC. Depending on the firing speed you want out of an Autocannon. PPCs and AC/5s have a very similar projectile speed, making them my favorite sniping combo in current game. Also, puts all your weapons in your arms so you can make more snap shots.
I'm trying to make this mech more of a DPS build so I've actually gone with something *very* similar, but with my VTR-9S since they're essentially the same mech: I have streaks in there since I *always* forget to fire the SRMs with this mech in close combat so the giant target reticle helps me remember, plus its one less weapon system for me to track with - it's a bit tricky with three different projectile speeds to deal with. Also, I have them set to chain fire to help with rattle and disruption during combat which seems to be working out alright for me. I am looking at fitting 1-2 UAC5s in there with an upgrade to XL325 but I haven't worked it out with. You have your addiction, and I have mine. I have my VTR-9K outfitted as my jumpish sniper based upon our favorite BJ-1 build: 1xPPC, 1xUAC5, 2xLLas. Considering my Cataphract is set up for pure jump sniping right now I needed something different with this mech. I can't have them all be pop-tarts! Heh.
Here you go. I won't post the smurfy lab picture because I don't want to mash up the forums' sections too much. You're right in stating that 9B and 9S are basically the same mech, but this only holds true if you aren't using the hardpoints distinguishing those two: either the third ballistic or the third missile hardpoint. As your build wants the third SSRM2 this discussion should end here and be taken over to the 9S subsection.
Holy damage Batman! 1250 in 5 minutes XD This is a great mech if you get to shoot other assaults. This was a VTR 9S but the load out was (almost) the same.
NOM NOM NOM! SO DELICIOUS! EIGHT KILLS! Ended up killing myself due to overheat getting the kill on that last spider. SO worth it!
Updated for group-play. Supports snipers with good range, but, still has GREAT DPS when you get into fist-fightin' range! The ERs work a lot better in groups and the additional AC/5 ammo is necessary when on large maps. 2¢.
Dang, this build just works. I doubt I am as good as you guys... But it still works. Had an XL340 so I am running it with 2xAC/5, 2LL, 2SRM4. Mean up close. Mean far away. Thanks for the build!
Updated for my current setup on The Destroyer. Now that SRMs are back in force, I added them back in (had removed them for UACs and/or LPLs) I run with 120 rounds of AC/5, 14DHS, 3x JJ and dropped the SRM6 to a 4-pack. The Destroyer is back in full effect! AC/5s for long range, combined with dual Large Lasers in mid-range and the end-all, be-all of "Piss off!" a pair of SRM4s to really light up their face. I've been back into the 700-900 damage range easily with this build. The movement nerfs HURT, but, she's still a murderous wench! I commonly play as posted above, with 14DHS and dual ERLL, however, it does get hot and running this with the emphasis on range (ACs w/ ERLL) the SRMs don't really justify their weight.
4/5, Had trouble finding a good build for this variant, until I tried this one. However, I only have an XL350 so I had to drop some weight. At first I dropped the srm's but found that those help a lot when you get in close. In the end I switched out the 2xAC5 for a single AC10. I lose a little range and dps, but keep the same alpha and I'm faster with the bigger engine. I also had enough room to add artemis to the srm's. I'll give this 4 of 5 stars.
Good way to pull some weight. This build is meant to make the most of the hardpoints. If you don't have the XL320/325, it gets a little expensive. However, the AC/10 is a great way to go. GREAT punch for a (now un-nerfed) chassis! Well played, mate, MRun!
