You ever wanted to irritate an entire (enemy)team on a budget? I already had the 210 and all I paid for was the Ferro I need to start screen shotting my end screens. Everyone ignores a ML Urbie... until it's too late. Edit: I know I could improve on my damage and heat but that's not really the point at the moment.
Not only that, but you can easily upgrade to DHS and endosteel, keep those +4 overkill DHS (you only need 2 of those 6 DJS to drop and play) and fit a JJ and a TC1... Even then, I'm not quite sure why someone should use such a build: it doesn't feel a budget build (you paid the engine from another build or for this very build) and it can be easily improved (using the more efficient endo steel instead of ferro fibrous or get every upgrade as posted early). EDIT: without changing the build too much, the only way to make it worth it or to make sense of it, is to drop some HS, switch to MPL and use the dead side as a shield
I don't think you embracing the spirit of this build: Annoying ankle biter. Primarily because, as the title states, it's funny. I have no skills in the UM-SC at the moment and I rarely do under 300 damage. I know it's not a lot but I'm still learning to torso twist with muscle memory instead of remembering after I get shot. You are already tanky for a light and this guy has +14(or 10) armor pretty much everywhere from quirks. Run around biting everyone's ankles and soak up some shots when somebody realizes how annoying you are. In the end it's not about min/maxing this guy. It's about embracing the silliness... also I was tired of running slow so I yanked the engine from my FS9-FS to do the event with. I was a bit C-Bill poor and I don't any light engines so I mostly ran with what I had and it worked beautifully. First game I completed the 500 damage for the event and I'm not ready to stop yet. Edit: I do like your changes and I will probably try those later but this was just a funny build that exceeded my meager expectations for it.
How does "the spirit of the build" of an annoying ankle biter who can take some shots get ruined by the changes Carlo suggested? Same engine and armor, same weapons, only more efficient and with more equipment. It has the same spirit, it just does it better. The alternate version, even with different weapons, still seems to be in the spirit of the original.
No, don't. Listen, I'm really one of those annoying guys that if you don't do something perfectly it is not right and will complain about it, but to be completely honest, I don't want to sound annoying but I'm still a pain in the ass despite my best effort. I sound harsh, but I don't want to criticize people or build for themselves, I always try to improve them as I consider it appropriate (just to confirm that, check my signature: that really happened in game). I own at least 3 different Urban Mech and I know how fun it is, simply said the first build was not optimized and compared to the most common meta / popular builds, it can be improved. Don't simply give up: everyone make mistakes at the start and I often forget that new players make mistakes that are obvious to me.
Not a mistake. I knew exactly what I built and posted. I brought it up here because I literally built it trying to rush and get the event done with what I had on hand. It way outperformed what anybody should expect from it and it made me giggle like an school girl no less than 3 times. I know it could be done better and more efficient. It just worked and I wanted to share that magical moment when I ended a match with an obscene score.
Admittedly it was a 12-1 stomp with a disco and a completely new player(The other CASX Guy is my coworker that just started playing yesterday. He got cadet bonus 9 off that game) but those numbers aren't far off from a normal Tier 5 game with this build. As soon as the events are over and I'm not as worried about C-Bills I'll probably try a a ballistics build or something like Carlo posted but it's been great fun while it lasts. Edit: Link issues
That exaplains why that build worked (and is working) for you: no offense intended, but the competition in tier 5 is pretty low Some 30 ton mech can fit 6 Medium lasers (like Osiris or Javelin), that's why I was skeptic: lasers only is one of the most powerfull / common metas (so build is not actually "funny", but "casual"... In fact it could even be tagged for "invasion" if it had a proper loadout, like a 6xML meta), so your build had nothing "special" or uncommon compared to other build I've seen so far. Only for the sake of comparison, one of the most "casual" builds I made for the Urbie is UM-R68 "Bad but good" (1xMRM20, 3xERML, TC1, 2xJJ, XL180) + ALT, which has your same firepower plus the added damage / suppression of an MRM20 and decent mobility (180 engine and JJs).
