I realized that it's been a full two months since I last made this mech, and I decided to update it to take advantage of the new rules. I've made a new post in this thread with the old model. For the new model, I've replaced the RT small laser with TAG, and reduced a bit of armor accordingly. Both mechs have command consoles for CIC purposes, so that hasn't changed. I've noticed some people asking what Command Consoles do, so here's the short explanation; if you don't have a command console, you can't mark areas on the map, you can't manage squads, and you can't give orders to your team. I know this because I've experimented with this exact model of stalker with and without CCs, and that's the way it worked. Note; For both mech variants, you'll only ever be firing one weapon group at a time-the max range of the small lasers is exactly the same as the minimum range of the LRMs. Your cooling efficiency with each weapon group is 42% for the LRMs and 48% for the small lasers.
Ok, can someone please check my work for me? As far as I can tell, the only difference in armament between the two is that one of them has a TAG instead of a small laser-a difference of .5 tons. Yet somehow, the one whose armament weighs .5 tons more than the other has more armor, more ammo, and a bigger engine. Am I correct, or am I just hallucinating?
No I didn't. The original Screaming Mimi is very deliberately a CIC mech. I completely forgot that I had taken the CC out of the TAG build in order to make room. I fixed it, so both models have CCs now.
tell me, what does CC do for you currently? I have one just laying around, and would like to use it, if it is useful.
I explained it in the first post, but I'll post it again here. As I think all of us remember, hitting the B (default) key will bring up a full map of the entire battlefield. If you have a command console, you can do things on that map like pinging locations, giving orders to your team, and re-arranging the members of each squad, as well as making new ones. As an example of a game I played with this build (no video, sorry), we were doing Capture on Terra Therma. I first re-arranged the squads so that we had 6 squads; 2 squads with 2 light mechs each, 2 squads with 2 medium mechs each, one squad with 2 heavy mechs, and one squad with me in my Mimi stalker and an ERPPC/Gauss equipped Highlander. I divided the squads into 3 groups; 2 lights and 2 meds on on the right flank to cap Epsilon (Alpha and Beta squads), then swing up to wrap around Theta and sandwich any enemies in that area; 2 lights and 2 meds on the left flank (Ceta and Delta Squads) to run patrol & interference, and the heavies and assaults (Epsilon and Gamma squads) towards the middle to cap Theta (the heavies were a Dragon and Quickdraw, both with large engines). It worked great-in the opening 5 minutes, Alpha and Beta killed a Jenner and routed a Blackjack that had been rushing Epsilon (losing a Spider in the process), Ceta and Delta killed a Hunchback and routed a Raven that had been flanking Theta (no casualties), and Epsilon held off a rush from an Atlas and 2 Awesomes at Theta-the Quickdraw TAG-ed them well, and Gamma killed the Atlas and right torso-ed an Awesome with indirect fire, while the Highlander drove them off with some expert poptarting. We lost the Dragon in the process, unfortunately, but he legged the Atlas with his last shots which is what let me nail him. The rest of the game went fairly quickly; I directed Alpha, Beta, Ceta, and Delta to split up, putting their long-range snipers on strategic hills while the others grouped up and swept the lowlands for enemies, with the Quickdraw from Epsilon and the Highlander forming a new Epsilon squad that served as heavy firepower and support. I stayed near Theta and hit enemies with LRM salvoes when I could, and I even got lucky when an overconfident Commando ran up to me and stayed at my front (I think he was trying to headshot me), hitting me with lasers. I let him shoot me a couple times to lure him in, then legged him with a double 6x SLas alpha, finishing him off with a few more. All in all, we won the game handily, with our only casualties being the Spider, the Dragon, and a Trebuchet who got legged and crossfired.
