You can engage pretty much everything at any range/out of LoS with decent damage. You can snipe enemies at long range with LLas + LRM support fire. You can peek out of cover to throw an LRM salvo or/with a burst of M/LLas point damage. Exchange LRM for SRM at short range. It runs quite hot and is a bit confusing at start due to 4 weapon groups. Once you understand what works at what range it gets quite easy to use. I've ran my fair share of 800+ damage games with decent amount of kills, between 450-600 is quite regular if that's any indication of viability.
