So I used to love playing the 4 large laser Stalker 3F, so when the quirk list came out the most interesting mech on the list to me was the 4N, long been considered the worst and most redundant of all the stalkers. I miss having the 3F's extra twist, but the quirks really make this a beast. I have played quite a few versions of this, straight 4 LLas, 4LLas + 2 Mediums, 4LLas + 2 SRM4, 6 LLas. But the version I think of I have settled on as the best is 5 Large Lasers, 4 works great. The quirks give you enough heat management to handle 5 very well as long as your not firing off to many alphas. You can alternate between the 2 on the left and the 3 on the right for a while before you have to disengage or back off or switch to firing singles at a time. Real easy to get into the 600-700 damage games. Probably a bit harder to get kills because its a bit easier for people to twist and roll damage from it, but you should still have no problem getting some kills because you can continually apply pressure to damaged mechs. Also what I like to do is hit people first with the 2 on the left, if they do twist, then wait for them to turn back towards you and hit them with the 3 on the right.

You can drop the bap and get up to a 290 for a touch more speed if you want and keep the heat sinks maxed out.

You know, I never bought the 4N, for the simple reason that it was never really worth it in the past. But now, Quirks made it one of the best Laser-boats in the game; I may have to consider reserving a 'Mechbay for this guy. ;)

I've been running this and the Jester with quad LL and they've been very effective. Actually prefer the more mobile dual AMS Jester personally. One upside or downside (depending on situation) is that people are more willing to stay to tank the LL's than ballistics or missile fits.

How is the heat on the penta version?

I find the heat to very manageable as long as you aren't alphaing a lot, I usually fire 2 3 2 3 2 3 and can do that many times before letting off, when temps get hot I will switch to a single chain fired. :You can even do 2 straight 5 laser alphas without shutting down.

I run the Penta from time to time even now, but that's when I want max engine and AMS :) When the shielding side is gone you still have 3LL, AMS and 17 DHS.

The max engine feeling, while not spectacular on the Stalker, is there.

Saving this config for the ECM nerf, then maybe AMS will be worth something again!
