Modules: Air Strike, Cool Shot 9, Adv. Zoom, Adv. Seismic, MPLas Range 2, SRM4 Range 2

Quick and deadly with a fair array of weaponry for all occasions. One of my favorite mechs to play, in part out of nostalgia for the old table top Battletech days.

C.A.S.E. has no use when u mount an XL engine. It avoids the dmg from an ammo explosion to continue to the next zone of the mech, but the ammo explosion still destroys that torso, so with an XL engine u are dead if u loose one torso. The solution is to spread the ammo around the parts, so if get hard hitted in a zone, u dont have the bad luck to be the one with tons of ammo, reducing a lot the chances that ur ammo gets hitted.

Also, if ur signal is jammed by an enemy ECM u cant fire the Streaks, u need to mount a BAP, that weight 1.5 tons. For a single Streak it simply doesnt worth the prize nor anything else.

I tried a combo like this, in the end i twinked enough around to came to something similar to this, but in other variant of the Shadowhawk:

Thanks for the tips Auriga. I never thought about that with C.A.S.E. and I never knew that about streaks. That would explain the occasional times I've wondered why the hell my streaks aren't firing!

DO NOT EVER EVER USE XL275 UNLESS THAT IS THE ENGINE RATINE RATING CAP!
(Well, unless that is the only XL you have around that size, then its all cool until you have the cbills)

XL280 weigh the same so use that if you have it. It is only slightly faster (1.6kph in this case), but no point using an inferior product. If you are going to shell out for an XL, mind as well shell out for something better.

[member=2430]enileph[/member] The XL275 comes stock with this mech, no point in wasting 4 million CBills for 1.6kph more :p

    Bad build.

You see a mech that works in every occasion, but in my eyes it really is just trying to accomplish too much at the same time, and your efficiency suffers from it. I have made a few like these earlier, but they are always less efficient than a specialized build that can bring all weapons it has to bear into its engagement range, and staying easily controllable.

Low speed for a SHD, even with an XL engine. 4 different weapon types meant you'd probably need at least 4 weapon groups which is hard to keep track of. You can only use all your weapons at full damage between 180 and 220 meters. Outside of that they will be inefficient compared to opposing mechs, sometimes even dead weight.

If you want a close range build, equip an extra SRM4 instead of the LRM, get an AC10 instead of the UAC5, and a better engine (less jump jets, at least a standard, or XL300) so that you have the speed or survivability necessary to get close.

If you want a long range build, double down on ballistics or LRMs, both weapon systems are very heavy so it's difficult to mount them both and keep a decent speed/armor value afterwards. Equip a few regular medium lasers, they'll not be used at long range, but then you're wasting only 2 tons of effective weaponry for a decent punch up close, instead of 7 tons of weaponry (LRM10+2t ammo) for mild annoyance from range.

I'd suggest you try a 'long-range' ballistics build, for example UAC5, AC5, 2ML. because you can use those within 0-180m, making you still somewhat strong in close range as well, though SRM or AC20 builds will likely out-DPS you. This means you'll be more effective, and still able to engage at many ranges.

Not what I would run, but Now you get your LRM + AC. the ML are for defence and what not.
drop the SRM and change to 2x LRM5 for better grouping and higher dps, saves a ton of ammo also.

U should give it a try. On paper they could look underpowered, but in the field they are great suppressors, and annoying. Not mechs that u want to break a 1000+ dmg, but one that takes out the cover fresh enemies surprisingly easy. Till some point i understand why u switch to 2xLRM5, but honestly, the more u can annoy the better, i would have prefered to keep the all range loadout.

I have 5 mixed builds right now. The dmg numbers tends to be low, but my survavility and my w/l ratio are quite good. They arent mechs for a 1vs1. Look at them as a Pointer dog :p
