This build works on all 3 variants but I like the 5M the most for having both ML in the RA. Weapon groupings: 1 - AC10 (Left mouse) 2 - 2xML (Right mouse) 3 - SRMs (Thumb mouse) Typical attack sequence is AC10, then SRM salvo, jump away and spin, ML salvo, AC10 salvo, then jump again. Rinse and repeat. These mechs can take ALOT of punishment.
Good build. If you have it, use the XL280, it weighs the same as the XL275 and can give you a little extra speed.
Here's what I've been using: I feel like the thing that makes this mech unique is the 5 jump jets, and man does this thing soar.
So I've been running pretty well the same build with fantastic results. The combination of high mounted ac10 and jump jets lets you take shots over hills and teammates all game long. Haven't experience too many deaths due to the XL as you can twist pretty well.
in my opinion an XL is always a bad idea for Brawling... Since u die when ur Side goes down, its a bad deal... And the Shadowhawk is always targetet the Side cause of his Ballistics
You should not be brawling with this build. You should be using your jump jets and speed to pop out and blow your load before getting back under cover. When you do take fire you need to torso twist to spread the damage. While running XL engines are always an extra risk I don't find it that much of a problem on this build. I've played 23 matches with it so far and only had a couple of deaths due to side torso loss.
The 40-damage punch and decent recycle rate makes it a good damage dealer, but it has no place holding a line or brawling, that's for sure. Totally a good teamwork 'mech. I've had no problem getting kills and damage with this build, so long as I have a competent lance.
