I feel like the SHD-5M has been left out of the quirk love fest from PGI. I've always seen this variant get looked down upon compared to its Shadowhawk brethren, but apparently it's a higher tier mech than the SHD-2H and -2K? Sure. Now that the SHD-2H can be a better AC5 boat than the -5M, and the BJ-1 can do dual AC2s better, I'm left looking for a role for this mech in my collection. So, what does one do with a drunken sailor? Well, here is a build that can keep up a pretty good decent rate of cockpit shake at any distance with the rapid firing ACs. It can also deal with a variety of threats with the MLas and streaks, and provides an additional BAP for the team which is proving to be quite valuable. So, here's a decent all-around mech that can suppress and deal decent damage at all ranges. Maybe this mech will turn out to be gold. Maybe it will turn out to be garbage. I just want the SHD-5M to start earning its keep again! Torso Yaw Speed +25% Turn Rate +5%
Hey, PGI must be stalking me on Mechspecs as they gave this specific build all of the quirk buffs. WOO! Ultra AC/5 Cooldown 10% Ballistic Weapon Cooldown 5% Laser Duration -7.5% Missile Weapon Cooldown 7.5% Torso Yaw Speed 25% Turn Rate5%
yay but I can't possibly find any use for a single UAC5.. it's an AC5 unless you double tap which brings you a short burst for 1 second before it jams itself into oblivion.. how? I mean, I just find it meh at best.. not the build but single uacs.....
Well, a burst of dps isn't nothing. I run this differently than I run my triple uac5 jäger. With that mech I double tap about 80% of the time. With this mech I double tap right when I am about to lose my target for the last bit of punch. Other than that it is just about the high dps cockpit rattle. Other builds that don't use all the quirks may be better, but this one can work if you want to use them all. Plus, it is super hard to fit two uac5s into thi in any acceptable way - plus, I don't think the bonus is good enough to warrant that.
