Well, have played so many SHDs, GRF, WVR and CN9s as Brawlers and Scout hunters, the Faction Revenge tournament was the perfect moment to switch to a long range behind-the-cover annoyer. Thought the top speed of 90 kph rounded up by some JJs would make this a very mobile support platform (granting me a rank within the top 100 ). Well, so far it works. Dunno if and how I could improve this build, it worked even on Terra Therma as you can see below. If someone wants to rebuild this - I confess - not innovative but working build, feel free to share your experience.
It's a good base build, the main weapon of the quad LRM5 tested and true in combo with other energy weapons. We've seen ERLLAS, LLAS, PPC, etc and they work well depending on the pilot. I preferred the ERLLAS myself but dual MLAS gives more weight for ammo.
True, more ammo plus higher ROF, which the annoying little buggers realize if they get too close. The idea for this build was to use the best-of-all-LRMs pinpoint seen as LRM5s combined with high agility and mobility to flank, evade, use terrain and fire on the run. Fire all 4 LRM5s breaches through single AMS, firing chain mode is better against lights or already damaged foes. Tried to build it with Artemis, but that would leave me low on tubes. 2x LRM10/A is not the same as 4x LRM5.
Not to mention that LRM10+A is much heavier. I don't see myself using this amount of ammo though and it's slower than the LLas variants which strikes me as fairly odd. There are some other problems too: CASE doesn't work with XL engines. XL280 (I repeat) is really, REALLY slow for an XL engine SHD. You have a lot of armor but often you don't need this much on legs/arms, especially since you have an AMS to prevent some nasty missile damage. Max jumpjets is not necessary for an indirect fire build, as missiles will often fly over obstacles, so you only really need them for positioning (and thus need less). This is what I'd do to it at the very least, though at this speed I'd likely get rid of the AMS as well: or or a STD variant: The whole point of mounting smaller weapons than the LLas builds is that you can put it into useful attributes such as speed or heat dissipation (or maybe more ammo, though I think 2t per smallest launcher is more than enough in most games). Heat dissipation isn't as critical since without your medium lasers you have 71% Efficiency (no skills), but running around at a mere 90 with deadly ST like that, no way.
CASE - well, didn't know what to do with half a ton of space left. But ofc you are right. XL280 - you are right again, but I just didn't have any other XL ready the moment I created this build for tournament. Armor is indeed needed for my style, as I can stand a shootout a bit longer (and keep lock by myself in that case for LRMs). I would reduce armor in premade games, but for PUG matches, sorry, I keep every bit of steel I can. Max JJs? Yes, makes the difference if you can jump on/over obstacles (buildings in city maps, ridges on canyon network etc.) in one jump or if you need to land halfway to reload JJs. Esp. if "only" the XL280 is mounted and you can't afford to stand around for long. ^^ From all the builds you presented, I'd tend to your last one with endo and ferro fibrous. Just because what I wrote above, I need every plus in armor I can get.
