The title of this thread is because someone said "skribs you have the worst mech I've ever seen" while spectating me. You know, that's kind of how the 5k works. It's terrible, but you use it to get your XP to unlock stuff for your 5D. * Yes, I have 333% heat efficiency. It is red. I can't imagine what would happen if I purchased DHS but it isn't worth it. ** XL would probably be better, but is not worth the money on a throwaway mech. You could also go slower if you want to and fit bigger weapons on here or maybe jets. *** You can use either arm, I just use RA because my main mech is the 5D, which has a laser mounted right arm. You are probably best keeping the ammo as I suggested. Armor distribution is because I rarely get legged and I want to keep my gun alive. I've played with this for enough runs to get XP (beats the 4 MG build by a lot...although I did 78 damage point-blank against a 4-PPC stalker, that was hilarious). It's slow. It's lightly armored. It has no jump jets. It only has one cannon, and 45 ammo at that. But gosh darnit...it works. I've gotten a few headshots with it. Recently I did a base rush where I got the only kill on my team (other team only got one kill, too), and I did 1 damage. This is probably the worst build I've seriously played with (the 4 MG spec was more of a joke to troll whoever I'm spamming with 4 MGs for literally 3000 rounds). But I've gotten a better KD/ratio with it than I have with a "better" build, so it must work.
I will never understand why people feel the need to fit oversized guns on a mech. I agree this variant is bad though, specifically because Machine Guns suck.
New version: 100 STD engine (because 100 XL is not worth the cbills for 1 small laser), gauss rifle with 3 tons of ammo, and 112 armor total. Bout to try it out. 4.47 heat efficiency with 10 single heat sinks.
I updated your main build with the Smurfy system to reflect this new version of yours. You must have had to take FF to get all the stuff to fit so that is what I did but I still left your a STD engine and SHS. No JJ sucks for a scout though!
it is effective if you have supporters by your side. You can steal a kill and they won't notice you because you are small lol and I agree with the 5D thing you are forced to use them to upgrade your 5D
I just got the Spiders today and have been running this on my 5K. It actually works. I have yet to have a under 100 damage match. The shield side due to the standard engine is very helpful and the jumpjet allows for effective poptarting. Just stick with the assaults and you will be fine.
The biggest drawback (in a long list) is that the original has no JJ. I didn't mind the slowness our lack of ammo add much as I hated being earthbound. When I save up for an XL190 or XL180 (for my Locusts), I'll have to give that version a try.
The OP build is the worst mech ever only because it's badly built. Gauss is now my default loadout on my SDR-K. You're limited in damage but it's very fun and a good practice. I use this build, I think it's the best balance between speed, JJ, ammo and everything else: edit: just after posting this, I realised I hadn't played the mech for some time. So here I am! The worst being I was legged from I don't know where before the fight even began, so I was left with only 20 slugs and dragging myself along at 40kph the whole game...
