Dropped a little bit of armor to squeeze enough tonnage for a Clan ERPPC. Time to make use of that ECM and the 6x JJ.

I chose the "B" Omnipods on the RT and LT for the extra 20% armor strength. The "C" Omnipod on the RA for the -5% heat generation.

Now this is interesting. Which quirks are better. The B Omnipods, or the C Omnipods, with a total of 15% of Torso turn angle? Or even the P, with it's total 20% torso turn speed rate?

Yeah, I'm trying a different set on each one to see if I can feel a difference.

    5/5,
You need to be a good shot to make something out of this build. Still, it deserves 5 stars for the fun factor, it's a delight to run it.

So true, I went to re-familiarize myself with all the hitboxes after piloting this mech just because there are times that precision is the difference between sucess and failure. That could really be said for most mechs but this little guy brings it up a level. 5/5 from me

    5/5,
Best build yet - took 4 kills and 450 dmg out of the gate with this thing. It pop-snipes really well.

Is using turn angle quirk pods for the side torso.
Throw in advanced zoom and cERPPC mods and you are set.

    5/5,
Excellent build for a light that's a little out of place when compared to the others. Stick with the group, do your best to target enemy ECM mechs, put fire downrange, and when the time is right, run around picking off stragglers and wounded.

Nothing like lightning to the face, and watching an Atlas keel over, ded.

I tried this build out yesterday (finally came to the point that I need to start leveling mechs I don't like) and I had a blast!
I'm not going to rate it just yet as yesterday might just as well have been a lucky streak, but:

Mech' MIST LYNX MLX-B (Ok I used the B-chasis,...)
    Matches Played 11
    Wins 8
    Losses 3
    Ratio 2.67
    Kills 8
    Deaths 4
    Ratio 2.00
    Damage Done 2,731
    XP Earned 11,000
Time Played 01:09:05 (One hour of play and nearly basic'd out)

Sadly, shadowplay was refusing to work yesterday. I made some moves that were worthy of bragging posts,... :stig:

I am using this build to master all three of my lynxes...it's just the only thing I've found that I can play, and it's kinda fun stress relief poptarting on every map ;) I also get weird matches where I suddenly get something crazy like 700 damage and 4 kills, then I go back to 100-200 damage rounds. Troll mech, but it's good for when I'm getting frustrated.

After currently wonder which mech to buy with all the excess C-bills from the past 2 weekend events I heard the Lynx was open to C-bills as of the Feb 3rd patch and was highly considering using this mech. When i saw your build it looks very similarly to the Spider 5-D ERPPC Build as was wondering if anyone had a good comparison of each being only 5 tons off from one another. The Lynx Build At first glace looks exactly like the 5-D Build with a few pro and con differences besides one being a clan and the other IS. Keep in mind I'm not aware of any differences in the C-ERPPC vs the IS-ERPPC (i hear some thing about splash differences but I'm unsure). Both Mechs have plenty of left over space for hard points. The following shows a link of both builds. Also as a side note the Spider 5-D runs hot with 11 DHS and 56% Cooling Efficiency so I imagine that only saving .75 Heat with 5% heat reduction on a 15 Heat C-ERPPC makes me worry if the Lynx will be worse. Based on a few first hand observations the Spider-5D looks almost hands down better than the Lynx. (I know the Lynx has a bad rep for Clan mechs, all clan lights do, or anything but the holy trinity). Perhaps the challenge could be worth it?

My main question here is, Is there a reason for me or anyone to buy the Mist Lynx-PRIME if I/they currently own a mastered or any experience level Spider 5-D? If one prefers IS for clan wars how does this alter the answer?

    Spider 5-D Build

    Solahma's MLX-PRIME Build

    Spider Pros:
1.) Much more armor, the Lynx has Locust like armor (especially the legs) and sacrifices quite a bit to make weight, even with the 20% omnipod quirk
2.) Runs much faster at 151.5 kpm vs the Lynx 124.7 (A large Difference, the Lynx runs like a fast medium)
3.) More Customization. While the linked build uses a tag for team support, you can fit up to 8 jump jets (69.38m max jumps) vs the 6 on the Lynx (62.44m max Jumps)
4.) Holds 11 DHS vs the 10 of the LYNX
5.) The spider is known for it's "Wonky" and very odd hit boxes making it elusive and hard to hit (head shots are nigh impossible to take)
6.) 10% Energy Weapon Cool Down Quirk
7.) Better ECM location in torso rather than arm, makes left arm a shield and require less armor (most deaths I've had are from Legs anyways)
8.) Can Hold a Torso Weapon in case the right arm is destroyed (and 4 more armor)
8.) Much cheaper to buy all variants to Master

    Lynx Pros:
1.) Uses Clan XL so more survivable on Side Torso Damage. (As said before, most deaths in lights come from being Legged)
2.) More weight efficient, doesn't sacrifice to much to hold full jump jets and BAP
3.) Has BAP by Default and in head
4.) 5% Heat reduction for arm omnipod quirk is great
5.) I think the Lynx is Slightly smaller than the spider giving it a smaller height hitbox (its about as tall as the Locust from in game impressions)
6.) Weighs 5 Tons less for clan war, lets you grab that much more extra weight

    Neutral Notes:
Both have rather Low hanging arms for their ERPPC
Spider 5-D runs hot, I imagine the Lynx does as well.

^ dude you're way overthinking it

Spider still has a broken hit box and is also a more flexible chassis. Mist Lynx you can only do a couple builds, like the one above, cuz its limited arbitrarily by PGI with trash like CAP and locked JJs. If that doesn't answer your question, nothing else will.

I can save you some time here: Spider 5D wins any day.

    1) As Soy mentioned, it has far better hit boxes.
    2) It can move about 25 KPH faster than MLX with best engine and speed tweak.
    3) Smaller profile shoulder-to-shoulder.

The MLX is my go-to Troll Mech...I love to get in it and poptart around, sniping people with that PPC. It makes an insane amount of CB when I do so, even though I rarely get kills, and it has the heat dissipation of the inside of an erupting volcano...the mech is just good at farming things like flanking, hit and run, and spotting bonuses in every match.

It is not, however, good. The only thing it has going for it are its ECM and JJs. The SDR-5D brings both to the table, although not with as extreme a jump capability as the MLX has...but it doesn't matter. The greater mobility and survivability of the SDR make it the better mech any day.

    5/5,
My Mist Lynx is more of a "Last Stand Reserve" in my CW Drop Setups but this Build here actually makes it good in there. ECM gives you Cover for you or your Teammates while you can flank the Enemy. 1x cERPPC is enoug to make everyone go back for a while and IS Lights fear it if they dont come close to it. Lets make it short here: For a Reserve Mech it has the best Tonnage / Effency Balance you can imagine.

PS: Also its a Troll in almost every way!

Well great minds think alike. I was running a ErPPC and 2x ErSL in my KFX and I was like, "Man, I could probably do this better in a MLX!"

I will be damned, ended up with the build much like yours (with the +armor torso omnipods). It usually does well in the 500 damage point range, but I will be damned... nailed a 1024 point game just a couple rounds ago!!! (And missed with my Arty, haha!)

Only noviced, so heat is the limiting factor. Probably much better after Eliting.

    Modules:
    Cool 6
    Improved arty
    Reduce cool down C-ERPPC 5
    Extend Range C-ERPPC 5

And I will agree with the statements above: Spider does it better.

Damn locked JJ and BAP stop it from competing as well as the splash PPC. I would love to lose 2 JJ and at least pick up a targeting module or another heat sink. I hate the lack of flexibility they are forcing on clan mechs.

When the heck will clan weapons ends up on IS and vice versa? These attempts at balance frustrate me.

    5/5,
Not sure if it's the best build for the lynx, but quite sure it's the most fun!
