Something I cooked up for the tournament. Was tired of always playing my Misery at mid-ranges, wanted something more focused on that 270 meter, AC20 range. So I built this. It's got some insanely nice hitting power, with a 55 point alpha, and a lowered duration on the pulses thanks to quirks. Takes components off in one shot, EZ-PZ. Heat efficiency is good with 17 DHS, and 4 tons of ammo seem to be enough.
I'm thinking about buying a Misery, so I've been looking over different builds. Do you like this better than the typical asymmetrical, shielding type build?
@book --- Personally, yes, I do. I like to have a higher alpha than just one AC20 and 2 LPL/PPC. And besides that, the advantage of having all your weapons on one side can be a disadvantage at times, if you lose that side first to heavy focused fire (good shielding generally means you won't, but sometimes it's impossible to shield). What I'm trying to say is, I hate to have a 'Mech where, if I lose one side to a nasty shot, I have no weapons left. I like to have weapons on both sides, for security sake. Instead of shielding by giving up one torso, I like to shield by tanking damage to all my torsos, preferably so I never HAVE to lose a single torso at all. So yeah, I prefer this build currently. Just from the matches I played in it over this weekend, trying it out for the first time, I must say: its pinpoint brawling power is unquestionable.
I run something very similar to this. I just drop the large pulse down to an ER large in exchange for AMS and bit more leg armor. I never really use the ER when up close though. I keep it out of the rotation when brawling. Have you tried throwing an SRM into the mix? One would fit nicely into that 270m AC20 range methinks. I use to run this weapon setup: Not a lot of SRM ammo, but found it nice to have that extra punch for special occasions. I just wish there was some sort of missile quirk on the mech as well.
OPs build has been treating me nicely in the PUG drops. Definitely a lot of brawl action...Unfortunately I was subject to a commando to the rear. 1003 DMG, 4 kills, 4 assists.
