    Build complitely redesigned (12.2013).

This STK-M build directed to heat stability with universal range firepower.

    Suggested weapon groups are:
    1 - AC20
    2 - 2xERLLAs
    3 - SRM 6, MLas

Welcome to Mechspecs, I hope you enjoy your stay.

why use such a strange engine? you won't find many builds here with a 305, xl or STD.

also, you have a very religious name for this mech. quite nicely done.

STD 305 because after all left 0.5 tons free space. And 305 is better then 300.
I think that XL engines is not suitable for assault mechs because they cant maneuver well enough to avoid damage to LT and RT

and it is not about religion :)

Here is the thing. I know XL engines in a stalker is not great. But using an engine no one will buy? not a good move.

the STD 300 weight is 25 tons, while the std 305 is 26.5 tons. You save 1.5 ton's down grading, and only go 57.2 kph vs 58.1 kph. that is an upgrade of only .9 kph. if you go from STD 300 vs 310, it goes from 57.2 vs 59.1, an upgrade of 1.9 kph, and only trade 2.5 tons.

plus, you have 1 ton free to begin with in your OP, so why not use the best engine you can get?

ok, lets see... if i need to trade 1 more ton to equip STD310, i must unequip 1 gauss ammo (its unacceptable) or 1 DHS. 1 DHS gives me 2% to cool efficient - it is not much, but i think that build should be directed to heat stability with universal range firepower. In this case i think that 1 DHS is better then 1 kph.

if i try to equip STD300, it takes me free 1.5 tons. hmm...
maybe it is really better. 1.5 tons = AMS + AMS ammo.

    then thx, ill fix build

I think the single SSRM2 is not useful to your build. A single SSRM2 at its current ability does not do much really, you can take it off and assign your tonnage elsewhere. That is quite a few tons you have saved, if you think about it. Remember, this is not 40K, you can be as cheesy/beardy as you like, and you should!

Great mods, but does this make it like another build in this child board?

I like what you got going on. This is the only change I'd do. I find 1 SRM6 to just not be enough. I'd drop it. You could either drop two ML's for one LL, or simply go this route:

In my opinion, SRM6 is serious argument in close range fights, e.g. vs medium mechs. Alpha strike of long range weapons (Gauss+ERPPC) is 25dmg, and i think that is enough. In this case i dont want to trade SRM 6 + 2 ML's for 1 LL.

This build has 57dmg (please correct me if this is wrong - i can not fully understand mechanics of in-game damage) on alpha strike in close range, 25dmg in long range and heat stability. I think that is nice.

But thanks for constructive comment :)

I like the new concept, especially because it's asymmetric so that the mech still got reasonable firepower if one of it's side torsos is destroyed.

That lone TAG feels badly out of place, though. I'd rather have another ton of AC20 ammo. Missiles aren't running rampage at the moment, so I'd also replace the the AMS + ammo for another DHS and additional armor.

This is how the build looks like afterwards:

    -> improved cooling efficiency
    -> more AC ammo
-> added armor as well as armor redistribution

This is basically the same load-out as my MISERY that I have used for many moons. I salute you.

Here is my customized build of the same ...

I prefer Artemis tight-groups on my SRM6, I like the ERLLas' high up in one arm to snake shots around corners and over rocks, and the other arm is basically a shield for the AC/20. I also like to always have at least one CT mounted weapon for fighting to the last. BTW, IMO -all- assaults should mount AMS -- if not just for themselves but for the allies around you. It's part of our job.

Like I said, I tweaked for my own personal preferences, but I thought I'd post for others to potentially enjoy it as well.

Here is my preference of controls ...

    Mouse1 (linked):
    AC/20, SRM6A, MLas
    Mouse2 (chainfire):
    ERLLas, ERLLas
    Mouse3:
    Alpha

My updated version carries an AMS and the CT laser is a MPL for testing reasons. This thing is still one of the better IS mechs, especially when considering the punch the clans are bringing to the battlefield.

I haven't played with my Misery during the last 3 months, but it got the honor of the first match on my shiny new computer this morning.
