Just a quick question, The MechSpecs TS3 channelgroup seems to have disappeared from the NGNG server (?), since when and why?
I would probably say it is due to some of the comments that Mech Specs users have made in regards to NGNG. While I don't censor peoples freedoms and thoughts there are a few members here who are distinctly anti-NGNG. I can ask to have one setup on Comstar NA if necessary.
I think it is a little quick to judge and extremely rude to remove a TS3 server based on the fact that just a few of the users do not enjoy NGNG or their podcasts/stream as it also is a smack in the face for those of us who use it who at least appreciate the people there. To remove this community from there is both stupid and wrong, stupid because many of these people on mechspecs is what keeps me playing the game and enjoying the grind, and wrong because it punishes people who did nothing, even though they are outspokenly against you. Its like the U.S. Government killing off its own citizens who speak out against their policies, it is a dumb idea because it ends up alienating people from you and shows how much you don't like to listen to other opinions and constructive criticism. Now that might not be the case with NGNG, but the point still stands, and people might end up seeing it that way, causing a loss in fan base like MW:O is experiencing cause people feel like PGI doesn't listen.
You guys are always welcome to use the FLOT Channels However I must agree. Punishing an entire community for the actions of a few people who have the RIGHT to their own opinion and the RIGHT to communicate their own opinion is brazenly insensitive, vindictive, and petty. Especially when that opinion is communicated on third party message boards that do not seem to either be entirely or officially affiliated with NGNG. While I do not have the actionable intel to know if indeed NGNG removed the channels because of this, the mere insinuation of it is pretty damaging. Edited for band wagon.
I have no intel either as I haven't spoken with Phil or Cattra or any of those guys over there today. I am only guessing so take it with a grain of salt but honestly, in the last couple of days people (yes Jacob, I'm looking at you) tend to voice their negativity pretty openly and harshly. I have censored personal attacks against individuals (again, Jacob and Bob, looking at you two) but general thoughts and opinions I don't moderate. Especially by donating members in the Benefactors area.
Actually no, I deleted it because I started re-structuring the NGNG TS3, but we have some integration coming with our forums so it got put on hold, just so happens the channel was at the top. [/quote] Don't know really what to say, we didn't remove anyone. It was a channel, not a usergroup. I can re-create it, but honestly there were people using the channel just as a dropship, who had no affiliation with mechspecs. May I stress instead of jumping to conclusions, to just ask? Like the OP did.
I must say, that's pretty hilarious. I guess they feel you should back them, Michael, and censor, or they're going to take their toy and not let us play. Just because our resident Liao's can rustle jimmies, as long as it's not official mechspec representatives, that's a bit...much. That's like anyone that complains on the pgi forums gets a big auto-ban hammer from Niko. Oh well, it's their server, they can do what they want with it, but the people that like NGNG here (and I include myself in that group) may have a different take on them now. Thanks for the update, Phil. Good to know. Sorry not everyone wants to be your friend across the MWO community
Just simply ask and it can be re-made. We deleted it due to inactivity recently because we are trying to restructure TS again. Edit** We can make it and give it 2 dropships for those who were using it as a dropship room for playing with fellow MechSpecs drops. I don't see a problem with this.
Well then my word smithing abilities will not be necessary! Jobs done, time to kill mechs. Oh, Also sorry for putting a foot on the band wagon. My cynical nature made the logic very appealing.
-shrug- With no easy intel upon whats going on, assumptions are made. I'm not going to excuse it, but that's the bare bones. Especially with peoples given opinions taken into account.
I'm only posting to feel better about my participation in this. Also, now that you've insinuated I should stop posting, I must instantly defy you. Also, this post gives me 100 posts. WOO!
Thank you for that Phil, Cattra. I think in the coming weeks we will look into registering a TS3 for the Mech Specs guys to use if they wish; they are relatively cheap for low usage systems and this will alleviate any headache you guys have in dealing with Mech Specs related channels.
We can actually host this, just need to setup a 'MechSpecs' user group is all. It really isn't an issue at all. The original channel was created for you & staff. Let me know, as I can do this very easily.
