Spoiler: Related Quirks Ballistic Cooldown − 5 % Missile Heat Generation− 10 % Some pinpoint at med range and some (quite cool) alpha strike for med-close range engagements. It should be considered a bad / non-optimal variant of the already tested and working 2xUAC10 + 2xAC5 + STD engine old meta... Worse precision, but faster. Don't forget to use the shield arms whenever you jam or feel the need to. First drop (skills already maxed): 800+ damage, 3 kills, 3 solo kills, 4KMDD, 9 assists It's not a 1000+ damage game, but IMHO that was a really good performance Spoiler: 800+ damage game ALTs: Strip the arms and fit a bigger engine (up to LE315) Fit LBXs for more ammo / cooling / armor / speed / whatever you like. Non worth it because IMHO mauler is not an excellent brawler (unless you fit a huge alpha build) and due to lack of precise DPS.
If you're going the brawling route, you might try a standard engine: Slightly slower, but it allows you to combine the MRM 20's into a MRM40, getting two extra heat sinks out of the saved tonnage. The cooling is insane. 325 standard engine is an option too: but it pains me to see an engine with 1/3 heat sinks.
Don't forget that this variant already get a -10% heat gen bonus quirk to missiles, so heat won't become an issue if the cooling efficiency stay above 45%... In fact, about the first build I could easily strip a DHS, strip some armor from the arms and fit everything in the torso, making the build symmetric... Or max out engine as much as you can 14 ton / 9.3 dps / 2.8 hps / 6 slots = 2x(7 ton / 4.65 dps / 1.40 hps / 3 slots) MRM20 12 ton / 8.42 dps / 2.42 hps / 7 slots MRM40 I do get that a single MRM40 is more heat efficient compared to 2xMRM40, but it does deal less DPS and it's pointless if the build is already very cool (>50%), especially if there is no pinpoint damage for "med-short ranged" damage or to finish off an enemy... Mauler due to hitboxes and quirks can't tank very much and is not very fast, which is I would rather go for a hot but brutal build rather than a cool sustainable build... That's the reason why I abandoned the 2xLBX10 + 4xSRM2 build
