Hai! A Rotary AC/5 build that utilizes the new civil war tech. Credits to krevLL for contributing! The build (revised):
+1! I tried this mech and its great fun. The ability to hill peek, and corner poke makes it better than other larger 2xRAC5 builds, it also manages the heat nicely. Its also decently mobile making positioning on the enemy before you open up easier. I did lose the JJ in favour of 3 ER Small lasers on the left arm and an extra heat sink Packs a big punch for its weight. NOTE: Both gun ports are mounted at the height of the cockpit or higher. (1 at cockpit height the other is above it.)
Thanks for trying the build & the feedback! You can indeed customize it for more lasers. I grown attached to the 'dead side' idea on these Marauders for shielding, so that is why I went without it. The Rotary AC/5s also tend to eat heat rapidly when fired continuously, so that is also a consideration. Beef explains the dead side in his recent video:
Thing is your have to face lock the rotaries so no need to fire and twist. You can of course retreat and twist still.
I'll add to here since my build is similar; Slower and hotter, but the ERML's are there for when you, 1) Aren't firing the RAC's 2) At mid-long range 3) AREN'T FIRING THE RAC'S. You can use the lasers with the RAC's, it just heats up pretty quick if you do. They aren't the best weapons to compliment each other, anyway.
@Renegademaster: Yeah you are right that with Rotary you face the enemy a lot, but when you are focused by multiple Mechs shielding is needed or you die in a matter of seconds. Don't trust the heat efficiency numbers, they are extremely deceiving in case of RACs. @krevLL: In my experience the strength of running the Rotary is it's crazy DPS . The build I posted has 24 dps which is insanely high. With 5 Lasers you drop that to 14. In an ideal encounter, it's not even worth firing the 2 Lasers for the heat they generate vs the Rotary. I guess if you use them as a 'backup', then it's fine.
Here is a variation on the MAD-3R if you do not care about the Jump Jets. https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/mad-3r-rac10-lppc-2xrac5-2xlppc-std300.12732/
@krevLL: You were right. It does feel more versatile with more lasers, you just have to be careful to manage your firing patterns. I changed the build up top, but switched the lasers to normal Medium Lasers instead of the ER variants. Seems to be the most heat efficient that way.
@Br3vi Dropping from ER's to Meds is probably a good idea, I was just a bit addicted to the range, but it truly does get too hot if you use everything together. Still my favourite RAC build though~
I'm broke man I'm just showing what was done with what I had man. LOOK AT ALL THESE INVALID MECHS AND WEEP
it uses the same engine as your build ! Your woeful cries will go unheard; as they directly pass into the void!
