The ShadowHawk revisioned by Flying Debris for MWO.

[size=1em]The Shadow Hawk was revealed today so I thought it would only be appropriate to talk about it and its variants much like I did with the Battle Master yesterday. The Shadow Hawk is one of the unseen/reseen battlemechs and its original design from the TRO's shared the same origin as the Thunderbolt and Battlemaster. This origin was a anime named Dougram. Legal disputes over the ownership of the designs were finally resolved in 2009 allowing Battletech to use the original designs again.

Trivia: Out of all 4 reseen mechs in Project Phoenix only the Locust does not share the same origin anime, rather it is from Crusher Joe.

Lets dive into more information on the Shadow Hawk. Originally designed and produced in 2457 as a recon and quick strike 'mech, the Shadow Hawk weighs in at 55 tons, making it part of the medium class. This fills in one of our two missing weight classes in MWO, 55 tons and 95 tons.

During our time period there are thirteen mech variants available, but that can be brought down to eight once you remove the LAM and clan variants. Lets take a close look at those variants.

First lets talk about the confirmed variant - the Shadow Hawk 2H (SHD-2H), made in 2550.

    55 Tons

Shadow Hawk 1R (SHD-1R), made in 2457. The first Shadow Hawk.
    55 Tons
    Engine: 240 Standard @ ??? km/h
    Jump Jets: Yes
    Weapons: 1 Autocannon/5, 1 Medium laser
Hardpoints Confirmed from TRO: 1 ballistic, 1 energy

Shadow Hawk 2Hb (SHD-2Hb), made in 2752. Royal Upgrade

Shadow Hawk 3H (SHD-3H), made in 2752(?) though some sources say 3050.

    Engine: 275 Standard @ 86.4 km/h km/h
    Jump Jets: Yes
    Weapons: 1 Ultra AC/5, 1 Medium Laser, 1 LRM-5, 1 SRM-4
Hardpoints Confirmed from TRO: 1 Ballistic, 1 Energy, 2 Missile

    Shadow Hawk 2D (SHD-2D), made in 2796.
    55 Tons
    Engine: 275 Standard @ 86.4 km/h km/h
    Jump Jets: Yes
    Weapons: 1 AC/5, 2 Medium Laser, 1 LRM-5, 2 SRM-2
Hardpoints Confirmed from TRO: 1 Ballistic, 2 Energy, 3 Missile
Note: 5 Tons of Armour removed in the TRO's - if made into a variant then expect lower armour default

    [size=1em]Shadow Hawk 2K (SHD-2K), made in 2803.
    55 Tons
    Engine: 275 Standard @ 86.4 km/h km/h
    Jump Jets: Yes
    Weapons: 1 LRM-5, 1 PPC
Hardpoints Confirmed from TRO: 1 Energy, 1 Missile

    Shadow Hawk 5M (SHD-5M), made in 3048.
    55 Tons
    Engine: 275 XL @ 86.4 km/h km/h
    Jump Jets: Yes
Upgrades: CASE, Double Heat Sinks, Endo Steel,
    Weapons: 1 LRM-20, 1 Ultra AC/5, 1 Medium Laser, 1 SRM-2
Hardpoints Confirmed from TRO: 2 Missile, 1 Ballistic, 1 energy

    Shadow Hawk 2D2 (SHD-2D2), made in 3049.
    55 Tons
    Engine: 275 Standard @ 86.4 km/h km/h
    Jump Jets: Yes
    Weapons: 1 AC/5, 2 Medium Laser, 1 LRM-5, 2 Streak SRM-2
Hardpoints Confirmed from TRO: 1 Ballistic, 2 Energy, 3 Missile

    Cattra's 3 variant prediction: SHD-2H (Confirmed), SHD-5M, & SHD-2K.

Final thoughts: I think I am going to really enjoy the Shadow Hawk - the only thing is that all the variants besides a few are very close to being the same. This gives the opportunity to PGI to try and make the variants stands out from one another on the battlefield with potentially their own variants and granting of hardpoints. Only thing I hope is that we don't get another Quickdraw where the only difference is a hardpoint for two more jump jets.

Make sure to tune in next time when we take a look at another Project Phoenix mech...

    Keep your targets NARC'd,
    - Cattra Kell

Mod note: Moonsword: I corrected the max engine rating for the 2H, you had 260 listed, corrected it to 360.

There are still more variants coming other than just the 2H. That is what the speculation is on.

I think they make at least 3 variant think two in the package including this one and one more for normal cred sale

Think of buying the whole set but $80 is a bit expensive for my taste

Man, blast from the past reading this a decade on. I still enjoy the Phoenix mechs, despite there being newer shinies which are arguably better. Never regretted buying into the pack and expansion.
