Since the addition of quirks I was unsure of what to do with this mech. Very nice small laser quirks means equipping them leaves the locust (yeah I know it sounds absurd but it still true) with lots of spare tonnage. Finally I figured upgrading two small lasers to medium pulse lasers improved the mech in 3 ways: Uses efficiently the extra tonnage issue. Adds some medium range ability to poke and get assists, small lasers even quirked are too short ranged. Improves alpha from 18 to 24. While it only had 2 drawbacks: Only reduces sustained dps (smurphy's) from 2.58 to 2.57 Reduces heat management from 43% to 35% which is the only significant drawback, but still locusts aren't for brawling, they are for poking out shooting and withdrawing so it's not as important as it might be for other builds. As an added bonus, all the locusts conveniently have 3 weapon module slots, so you can equip the 2 range modules and the cool down one for either SLas or MPLas, I personally prefer to use the MPLas to take their CD more in line with that of the small lasers, and also because you aren't going to be shooting at <200 meter all the time so the weapons you'll fire the most are the MPLas.
5/5, I'm currently using this set up with three weapon groups. Group 1-2sl+1mpl /Group 2- 2 sl+1mpl/ Group 3- Alpha Strike... Running it like this it has really good heat management.
Thanks for the reply, but since quirks changed I moved on from this build. Now single weapon type boating builds are superior if only becuase oyu can use range and CD modules for both your weapons be them SPLs or MLs. Though there is certain power in versatility.
