I was looking over Valdemaar's "Can Opener" spec a while back and I've been trying to find a build in which Machine Guns can be a functional part of one of my builds. So far, the MGs have always served only for distraction and trolling. After XP capping my third variant of my Jagers, I remembered the Can Opener from a few weeks back and started playing around. This is what I came up with. This is surprisingly effective! I'm finally seeing MGs finishing off mechs when my other weapons are on cooldown or running hot, exactly what I had been so doubtful of with my other MG builds. I'm running 17 DHS, so even with Large Lasers and ERPPCs, I'm able to keep up a lot of firepower with the range of my main weapons. Moreover, I can strip down most mechs before close engagement and taking heavy damage myself. My strat with this build has been troll sniping to begin, then, sticking with Heavys/Assaults and supporting. It seems to be very distracting with the flashes of bright blue and constant plink of MG and packs a pretty respectable whallop at any range. Basically, this is a Chaos Creation Mech. People have a hard time picking targets with a Jager at this speed throwing blue light and that constant sound of MGs while still facing an Atlas or Highlander raining down hell in close range. I am finally a fan of MGs and I must throw my respect to Valdemaar for the inspiration. Thank you, sir. Comments and suggestions welcome, as always.
Hi there, full stars for this excellent build. Very versatile Weapon setup. Even Lights can be killed in short time by your dual LLs and quad MGs. There is little flaw i see. Only variation that comes to my mind would be to change the ER PPC to PPCs for better Heat Efficiency or to give one ton MG ammo for a little bit more Armor or another DHS. Well done. Now after latest Heat-Nerf this build is only 3 Stars for me. Unplayable on the hotter maps. Blagg Zear
Thanks, Blagg. I've run with ERPs and PPCs, found with the slow mech speed, I could easily be cornered by cover, allowing faster mechs to close in and lose a major portion of my damage on plenty of maps. I agree, the heat is outrageous, but, they're only fired quickly in emergency situations. I did change from the ERLLasers I initially put on this build to save some heat. They gave me a little more at a distance, but, for lights and mediums that get in close, they only served to build heat and neuter me into a giant machine gun.
After seeing what my friend did using this build, I am a huge fan of this build. Great job Cpt Chattahah. I am definitely picking up one of these mechs.
I strongly recommend running as follows; The ER PPC is just too hot to run now with LLas and I really find the third ton of ammo necessary. Chatt.
