You can Combinefire the LLas for about 4-5 times on a "normal" map. If you get hot simply chainfire them! If Enemies have cracked Armor, you can try to Crit them with Quad MGs. In Teamfights you surely want to target wounded enemies. 17 DHS for fast Cool down. Weapongroups: 1. LLas (Chainfire) 2. LLas (Combined) 3. Popped off the AMS and MPL for a fourth LLas... So sexy. I always discount MGs when thinking of a build, but, they truly are incredible weapons for very little weight - so long as you have at LEAST 2 (best to have 3 and 4, as this build does) This build for me was less about massive damage and more about pure finishing power. For me, the LLas are the perfect pinpoint damage weapon: No projectile speed, high damage per laser, and great range. I would rather have a Large Laser which I have to hold on target than a projectile which I may lead wrong, has projectile drop, or the enemy may move in an unexpected way. For a closer, dual or quad LL are phenomenal. Quad LL in groups of 2 are commonly my favorite builds just for the sheer magnificent damage output. They're hot, but, the quick repeats of 18 pinpoint damage are just frightening. I played pack a bit for most of the matches, using my range to support my teammates, however, after the enemy had lost a few mechs and we had torn into some armor, I just went out and stripped off pieces like they were wedding cake! Played for about an hour, my best round I ended up with 5 kills, 13 component destruction. Still, less than 500 damage, so it doesn't seem as powerful, but, make no mistake. This thing is a beast when handled correctly. Moreover, with a STD engine, it just keep rockin'. You can lose half your mech and still be rollin' out with 2x LL and 2x MiniMightyCritSeekers. /thumbs up.
I have tried a Quad LLas build at first but then i changed back to Triple LLas to have some critslots free for viable things like AMS at that slow Speed & as much Heatsinks as possible, also to avoid too much Heat Penalty if Alphabeaming. But yeah chainfiring Double Double LLas is also very fearsome!
Gotta say, as much as I usually protest against loading AMS (I usually stick in cover and mooch AMS off allies and rarely have much problem with LRMs) However, I did get PUMMELED today by an Orion. Just a constant chain on my as a Locust circled me on Tourmaline. Downed me in about 5-6 seconds just from LRMs and MGs. I like having the extra 1.5t to play with... but it comes at a heavy cost some rounds.
