Hello, I am new to this site! I am not sure this is where I should have this thread, but I looked everywhere so this is where I will start it! I am a 3d Modeler concept artist. I love mech vehicles of all sorts but not big on coping those who put out great model designs and just change them around to meet my needs. I like original stuff so I am starting an original thread with new models. Just to show my appreciation for this site. Anyone is welcome to post any idea, crits or possible requests! So let it begin!

Just some stuff old and not so recent to start this thread off. Just dumb Ideas, I guess I come up with when I am bored! Nothing spectacular. Just concepts......Mostly.

So I guess I will try to keep this thread going until I am eather laughed off the site or somebody just gives me the boot.

Thanks Again, and its nice to be here!

many of these mechs seem to be modeled from hawen mechs. look at their models, and compare them to what you have here.

also, there is no sense of scale. a human 6ft tall would give us some idea on how large these things are.

You mean Hawken! Correct! Actually no. There may be similarity in all of his mech-vehicles since it is he and a few others like him, who were the first originators of this style of robotic/ mechanical being. The Herculon109 Mobile Transport was a 200 ton Mobile Base Platform. Equiped with 2 Kinetic Plasma Canons and one Large Railgun. For longrange support. Also it had an Airdeck. It was slow but was a useful vehicle in the Theatre of Mech opperations.
The Mech above was a concept utilizing a russian- helecoptopter body for its cockpit/main hull design. And a standard 6 foot man would be in scale to the assault mech with a possible scale of 30 to 45 feet tall. Compared to the Herculon which would come in at around 250 feet or little bit taller.

These were old concepts like I said. Just something to start a thread with. And Hawken is well known but there at least 12 or so other Artists, with disticnt differences in Mech vehicle variety, that I could name that have made long strides in the development of Mech vehicle design. But orginality can be based on many types and varriables but in the end, they will have some characteristic that will make it similar to another design. A Gundam, Transformer, Battle Tech Vehicle and other such Genre's of Mechanized Cybernetic Vehicles all share one or more characteristics. None of which the true source is Hawken!

Also in closing I would like to add this! Isn't great whether through drawing ,painting or 3d modeling, people like myself can originate there ideas and make a visual interpretation to share with others. Whether buiding upon a stable foundation like FASA/ Battletech or other forms or based on older orgins. I can't wait to see new generations, interpretations of a Atlas, or Gundam or other types of vehicles. It never ends and it never, not inspirational.

Ha! I totally see the Hind in that thing. Very nice.

It's been over a decade since I've done any gaming 3d work. Hasn't been since the Counterstike beta team and a few other original Half-Life mods. This is really making me want to find my old software and get back into.

Very nice work. Great attention to detail and function. (adding magazine feeds into ballistic weapons, actuators, ect) Well played, Ironchoir.

That ship looks so Battlefleet Gothic to me...
In the grim dark future of the 41st millenium, there is only war.
    Damn I am old.

This is the general shape of your car. Going to use this for a mech so come up with a cool name! By the way is that your car. I like it! For file purposes until given name, :Karmech1

The wheel wells will be added back in, Thinking of ball turrets or gun-chain ports, who knows! Will also incorporate the doors and front shield, ...wip!

Put a windscreen on the top and hollow out a sitting area and make it an open cockpit concept like an Indy Car LOL

Just put the control sticks on top of the mech and ductape the pilot there maybe?
But seriously though, you don't really need windows for the cockpit, the pod can be anywhere on the mech, maybe even behind. As long as the sensor bundle is in front things would be fine.
