This might be one of those times to aim for the legs. 96 damage may not leg an Assault mech, but anything smaller and it's going to be limping. I don't own this mech, so I'm not sure about the ammo count. My guess is that it's a little too low for quick play. With quick play it's harder to get as close to your foe, so spread matters more... Running something like this would probably fix both issues:
