I thought this build as a meme, but once fully skilled I think it will work VERY nicely.

    Now, the main quirks are:
    • -10% ballistic cooldown
    • +20% ballistic range (meh, for an LBX10)
    • -20% energy cooldown (ouch)
    • -15% heat generation (VERY nice, considered we are boating MPLs)
Now, according to mechDB this build has a staggering 36% cooling efficiency which is EXTREMELY low, it's a pre-DHS-buff cooling level, BUT it features a whopping 4.5 alpha coefficiency... Which means you can alpha strike up to 4 times (40 damage each) before overheating. With maximum heat generation skills (and no cool run) this build should be able to alpha strike 5 times before overheating, so you should be able to dish out 200 damage before the need to hide or rely on LBX10 only.

As far as I can see it, this build relies on appear as a very hot and very obvious XL fragile build, but it will be able to punch through most non-assault builds given enough time or if you manage to spread damage. This, coupled with excellent speed and the common nascar issues, should make this build fun and nasty.

General rule of thumb: do not join fights where you would be outnumbered. 1v1 any non-assault mech.

EDIT: if I'm not overestimating the skill tree, with a bit of operations it should be able to alpha strike a 6th time thanks to both coolrun and the heat containment nodes you are force to pick...

I run a very similar brawler, but with LB5X as the ballistic and LFE engine. It is working great, a really fun build to play.
The MPLs are definitely your main weapons. The LBX is there to add almost heat-free damage and crit opened components - it is the secondary weapon. The LB5X has a tighter spread than the LB10X and from the (short) range of the MPLs it can be considered "pin-point" against any mech except lights.

The LB5X build also has 13 total DHSs for good cooling - the -15% heat gen. quirk is somewhat offset by +20% cooldown, so you do need the cooling.

There is a good argument for going XL instead of LFE - everyone will be aiming at your hunch. With LFE you can still walk around crippled with 2MPLs, but in practice you are probably a 1-shot away from death anyway. XL on the LB5X build allows to max out the engine to XL275, and have 1.5 tons spare for AMS, or TC, or BAP, or maxing out your armor. Tried both XL275 and LFE250 - they both work great.
