Essentially just an optimisation of the stock, but here's what you can do. I hated this (poor Founder choice) variant for a very long time, until this double XP weekend, when I figured I'd master it. Crammed a STD 250 in, up from 225 by dropping AMS and adding FF. You run around, shoot people in the face, and make 150-200k non-premium with the founder's bonus. Highly mobile AC20 platform, great for legging lights, shooting meds in the back, and taking out the sides of anything bigger. Heat efficient, fire the AC20 at will, and don't lean on the lasers on high heat.

Show no fear, be that plucky little 50t 'mech that runs up to everything and tears off limbs - run away when they look at you too hard.

I'm 11k past Master now, and I just can't stop playing it.

Totally trade the MLas for CASE and a SLas.

Edit: Strike that. The SLas I proposed just doesn't pull its weight.

Names, the build you linked to could be done much better on a Cataphract (read: with 2 more MLs and still better heat efficiency).

The OP looks like a pretty good build for the 4G.

 

Not sure I understand the point of your post. Myth's thread is newer. If you were trying to say "Hey look, this has already been done" then you did it on the wrong end, lol.

I like this build, sadly I no longer own my ballistic Hunch and am down to my 4SP and Swayback.

 

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this build. I hated playing this mech before. I played a dozen or so games in it, stopped, and just concentrated on my other founders mechs. I did this build and have had a blast over the past few hours playing it. It's easy to get in trouble, do some damage, and get out again if I want.

 

I can't seem to get this to fit. Has it changed with a patch? If I switch to Ferro, it wont let me fit in a Standard 250 or anything else because not enough slots.

 

Make sure you full strip the mech. I often forget a ton of ammo in the head and wonder where the extra ton went. Also remember to drop 8 tons of armor off each leg.

 

Weight is not the issue. It is slots. If I try to switch to Ferro, it tells me I don't have enough slots. If I take engine out and then switch to Ferro, it will not let me put engine in due to not enough slots. I have plenty of weight to go.

 

My version is a good deal slower than this one. In fact I may very well switch to this variant in the very near future.

 

wc5b, you've got something wrong. Strip the entire thing - because I guarantee that you've got a double heat sink somewhere or some extra ammo if you can't get FF on it.

My setup is similar, so I won't start a new post, except that I drop the head-mounted Medium laser for an extra ton of AC ammo.

5/5 from me. Even with just BASICS covered it still runs quick, fights hard and stays cool. For 50 tons of awesome this is what you get!

 

I run this on my HBK-4G, same thing as OP. This build is a beast! Keep to the middle of the pack in the early game and/or find a good hiding spot and wait for the mid-game action. Then pop out from behind cover and bring that AC20 hot and fast. I call this mech "lil' mugger." By the endgame this mech mops up the other team. This has the strongest finishing power of all hunchies i have, Including the HBK-4P with 9 medium lasers.

 

I don't have FF on my 4G. has it made any difference with your surviveability?

Mason/Michael, I see you got 802 with that. I got 800 in mine using this HBK-4G with a Logitech JS and a Razer Nostromo

After experimenting with the 4G a lot, I found this (the OP's) build, and it by far is the best build for this chassis, and my favorite build in the whole game. I call mine the 'lil mugger' because I wait for the brawl to start and the flank into the melee and mug kills.

 

Bumping up the classic builds.
Probably need 4 tons of ammo on a long fight. But STD 250 is about right.
