This build became my favorite Fang build during the first 'I Need A Hero' event this weekend. I played a lot of games in my 'Raptor' build, but it couldn't carry me high than 7th place / 2,310 points. This build changed that. Fast, cool running and massive pinpoint damage. Variant: mounting FF, you can go even faster, but that XL335 certainly is a niche engine. I'd dislike to shave another 18 or so points of armor to be able to mount an XL 340, though. If this build keeps on performing for me like it did until now this is certainly worth considering, though.
The FF build has no drawbacks, so it should be the "main" build even if it's a strange engine And mounting a 340 doesn't seem too bad armor wise. Great results on Dragon leaderboards, keep it up !
Yeah, from a technical point of view the XL335 or XL340 versions are even more optimized than the first build in the OP. I hate being head shot by strikes, though, and more than one opponent already managed to hit my head when I was hill peeking & sniping with my shoulder mount, so I usually don't leave the hangar with less than 16 points of head armor. Other chassis might get away with less, but not the Dragons (my opinion). As for the XL340 version, I'd therefore reduce the leg armor to 46 each and raise the head's to 16.
I don't have a Fang, but I guess it should work nicely on the DRG-1C. Quirk wise it pretty similar, it just trades the -15% heat gen for +15% range (I'd take the heat quirk any day, but not sure I want to spend MCs on that). edit: I'm looking at your smurfy's sheets, what do you think of mounting two lasers on the torso? I find those high hardpoints pretty handy for pocking. edit again: uh, ok, two lasers on the torso is not doable on the Fang. DRG-1C I <3 you!
@epikt I'll post a short vid one of these days that shows a nice move with the 2 LPL in the arm and the huge arm arc in the DRG. Sometimes high mounts aren't everything ;-)
I just tested it (using the -1C chassis) and it works great. It's not too hot actually, so I suppose the -1C makes a viable cbill alternative.
Nice! That -15% heat gen. quirk probably means you're able to alpha one more time before ducking into cover for cooling down. Alternatively you have to switch to chain fire earlier on the -1C. It's nevertheless a viable CBill variant for this build for sure. OTOH, the Fang currently is at a 50% discount... All the LPLas on the left side allows for some amazing corner peeking. I did that excessively on the citadel on River City and between the buildings on Frozen City, bit should be very doable on nearly every other map as well.
Yeah, I know, but I don't have enough MCs on my account, so I need to pay again if I want to buy a hero mech. And to be honest it's not a mech I will pilot a lot, not sure it worth the investment, even at -50%.
