So I've been trying to work out a good build for my Catapult-C1 --- without LRMs, since I already have my A1 rigged up with those --- just so I can take it out of the 'Mechbay every once in a while. (I currently have it stripped completely, and it's been sitting that way for quite some time.) So I was messing around, taking a look at various builds, and I finally decided on this one as a potential winner.

Bit of a pop-tart, with some close range weapons for support and brawling (including Streaks for use against Lights). All 4 JJs give you maximum height on your jump, and by removing Endo-Steel Structure from the 'Mech, it can actually be made to hold a surprising 20 DHS, which is not all that shabby for a Heavy chassis.

Basically I'm just posting the build because something like it hasn't really showed up here yet (that I know of), and I'm wondering what the Catapult fans here might have to say about this one. I'll probably rig it up and take it out for a spin within the next couple of days, so I'll see how I like it.

For now, though, off to bed! ;)
    Cheers,
    Falconium

Nice Poptard. What irritates me is that you call it Vulture, because the "real" Vulture aka Mad Dog has a complete other Weaponry, namely (2x LRM20, 2x LPLas, 2x MPlas). In the past i tried to load this Set into the C1, but failed because of Weight Matters. I still don't understand how it is possible to load that Set into the 60t Mad Dog.

Regarding the name, I am familiar with VERY little of the lore, so I was not aware that this title had been associated with a Mad Dog variant. When it comes down to naming my builds, I always check the various threads already posted for the specific variant, (in this case, the Catapult-C1), just to make sure I'm not stealing someone else's name. That said, I can change the title on this one if you like . . . I merely called it "Vulture" on account of its being a Jump-Jetting pop-tart. To me, the title matters little; the build is what I'm posting, and I simply include a name because it seems like the normal thing to do! :p

Oh, and out of curiosity, Blagg, I went ahead and tried to put together that build you mentioned. It's possible, but I would never run it, for obvious reasons.

(I realize this is a completely separate build which has no bearing on my OP. I am simply posting it here because it came up in conversation here.)

Yeah of course you can load the weaponset by chosing a tiny engine and low Armor. But the Vulture Stock Build had XL300 for superior Speed. And all that with 60tons only. How's that possible?

It's a good point, Blagg. How to fit all that on a 60 ton 'Mech, and still make it viable?
Must have been some pretty sweet Clan Tech' going on there . . .

(Edited OP to alter title. I prefer this one anyway. :p)

MadDog have 2xCLRM20 with 480 rounds (240 per launcher), 2xCLGPLS, 2xCMDPLS, 1 additional heatsink and no have jumpjets. Clan weapons weight is smaller. This partly explains why it is impossible to simulate MadDog based on heavier Catapult in MW:O.
Maximum speed is 85 km/h, that may be equivalent of XL285 engine for 60 tons Mech. But this source talks about XL300.

PS. In my opinion many inconsistencies make it impossible to accurately modeling. Programming by PGI.

    PSS. As a variant:

As for Mad Dog tech was due to amazing Clan differences clan weaponry was just that much better. LRM's were hideously better put together.

Using Sarna for memory boost forget the actual battle tech values

    Clan LRM 20 = 5 Tons / IS = 10 Tons (yup 1/2 the weight for 1)
    Clan Lplse = 6 ton / IS = 7 Tons
    Clan MPlse = 2 ton / IS = same

thats a 12 ton advantage alone

Closest you could get to that tonnage in weaponry would be as noted Using Large Pulse, Medium Pulse and LRM 10's but as IS ferro and Endo take up 2x more slots you run out of space fast end up really limiting ammo or DHS's

hey get a bedroom. I was excited to see so many replies to this build and wanted some more info about how it works in the video game not another nerd forum on the "LORE". PS I would like to know about where do I sign to represent the folks whose background is solely from the video game "MechWarrior" pre lawsuit (yes we knew that the foundation was "modeled" from the table top, but the actual gameplay/balance was the sole driving force.

Looks like someone hasn't played the MWO game in the last month.

Edit: BC Clan Warfare has been announced to come out in December, and will have many features mention here

I started playing this month and many things are very confusing about this game especially what is in development, being fixed or related to "lore" but still quoted as game mechanics. I see clan styled bots in the drops and they are based on the lore, but they could be named Bill and Clinton and it would not have an affect on the PUG que and how I choose to play the game. I can see a map for clans, I can choose a faction and I can read about phase 1 and 2, but this is still in "phases", and without a light mech I do not even have an option to enter a "clan" drop wherever that button may be.

I assume as a moderator you really would like the chance to educate all users about the implementation of various features in the game and how they may not be easily accessible or how these features are still in development and may cause some confusion. I would love to see the links to anything other than sanitized PGI statements. Unfortunately, what came across was a snarky comment only aimed at making another person feel smaller in stature. IE it was not nice, helpful, insightful or even showed real intelligence, effort or originality.

So I can add to the ongoing you said he said the nerd said with "technically speaking" in front of it, but I would really just want to read about how the CPLT-C1 "The Raptor" build functions in game.

    @HungryWookie I ain't your daddy; and I ain't your friend.
There are many FAQ's on how to build, pilot, and use MWO to your full advantage. Just clicking the Guides button at the top ribbon brings you to many sources of information.

NGNG has hours of gameplay video, and so do members here. There information would far outstrip mine.

As for if this build works, or if it doesn't, that's up for debate. I wouldn't run this, but for shits and giggles, I just might.
If you've been playing this game for only 1 month, there are countless better builds one could make for the C1.
Unfortunately, due to the site transfer we had over a month ago, our ratings system was wiped to a clean state.

So I recommend trying it, rating it, and doing it all over again with a new build. Just to see what works for you.

Honestly at this time you never even warranted a "lets be friends" speech

Any other comments plz email PM or whatever. If we continue this it only moves the thread up higher when sorted by replies

Ok, I posted this build, I might as well reply to this mess. :p

The build was designed back in the pop-tart days, when jump-sniping was "the thing". But I haven't run it in probably at least 6 months, and I certainly DON'T recommend running it now. The game has changed alot, JJs are no longer as great as they used to be (though that is rumored to be changing in the next few patches; will see). Also, PPCs have been nerfed, as have Streaks (don't know how many people noticed the drop in Damage for Streaks, but it happened). So anyway, yeah: this was only ever an average build, and now, it really isn't worth running at all. It's ok though, cause there are lots of other great builds for this chassis.;)

Relax kids or take it to the Playground. Lets stay on topic. As for a snarky comment; Vergere will expand upon his comments in the future so that they don't come across that way.
