    PRIMARY CONFIGURATION (SUPPORT TEAM BUILD)

If you are working as part of a Support Team then chances are you don't need BAP because your team-mates will have it installed as part of their builds so you can max out your LRM ammo and work in conjunction with them; relying on them to counter the targets carrying ECM or being screened by ECM while you rain death down on those specific targets.

    ALTERNATE CONFIGURATION (PUG DROPS)

You can never tell what will happen in a PUG drop and so I shoe-horned BAP into this build in the hopes, if there were any other friendly missile boats were out there, they could launch missiles against the lights or other ECM mechs that snuck up on me and were attacking.

You can also use a BAP build if you are working in a 2/2 Support Lance. If a light attacks you with his ECM thinking he is too close for your missiles, than your friend can launch on him because your BAP negates his ECM and your partner can target away (ideally he is stationed 200m from your position).

    NOTES:
    • You can put the ammo wherever you like; in the head? in the legs? whatever but remember ammo is used from top down so the head ammo will be gone very quickly.
    • Yes, I know you could strip the TAG and add another MLAS but this is a support build and not a direct fire vehicle.
This is what this bad boy is capable of; even if it was a loss/death :p

After having played with my own version of your Alt. config (built it all by myself even), I'm beginning to see the need for that AMS. Right now, my Catapult is without it, instead opting for two tons more ammo (half a ton of armor less), but I've yet to burn through over a thousand missiles over the course of a match with just two LRM 15s, so 720 plus an AMS might be just the perfect formula.

This 'Mech is just so damned fun. I am in love all over again. Five stars!

EDIT: For added awesome, a UAV can be extremely handy in a pinch: get snuck up on? Get to cover quickly and pop a UAV, so your friends can find your hunter and cut him down.

I added a little bit more ammo on the primary build by stripping out the BAP (since it isn't needed if you are working with a well coordinated 4 man or 8 man) and then I also made a BAP build and tuned it in case you are PUG dropping or working as part of a team that requires both LRM boats to have BAP.

Would you strip the TAG on the Support variant for another MLas if you had a guaranteed Light scout who was equipped with a TAG and NARC (I may need to get a 3L for this VERY reason...)? Or would you hold on to it just in case?

Ideally I would ok in an 8 man or a 12 man and 2 mechs (or three) would be built carrying BAP on them then I could strip BAP off my machine. TAG is a tough call as I can't expect my team mates to install BAP and tag both. That's a lot of tonnage caterin to my needs.

    Undecided on the TAG removal.

While Catapults are well in my future, I think the C1 variant is about the best mobile LRM boat. It has more mobility than a hunchback and a better balance of mobility and firepower than a Trebuchet. It is going to be much faster than an Awesome or Stalker and be able to jump.

I have to ask if those heat sinks are necessary. You're already at 45% efficiency, and that's only if you're running both sets of weapons (lasers and LRMs) at once. They could go towards JJs or ammo, IMHO.

I'm still tuning it and I don't have it Elited yet.

Once I get Elite done, and then get the x2 on the Basics, I can strip the DHS off and put that towards more ammo or upgrading another system.

Well, I run a TBT-5N with 3xML, TAG, and 2xLRM15 (non-Artemis), and I only run into heat problems if I'm using both sets of weapons.

Just for kicks (I'd do it if I could get to smurfy at work), take off the MLs and see where your heat efficiency is.

Lack of MLas puts the cooling efficiency at 101%. You cool SO fast, that you cool the heat your weapons build before you ever fire them!

EDIT: So, tested a bit of a loadout with my Catapult, since I have mine mastered: I removed all heatsinks and still have a cooling efficiency in-game of 1.25. Fit on an AMS (which was missing), a half ton of armor (416/422), and was able to fit on all jump jets. This gives me six tons of ammo (had to fit a ton in one of the arms). Like this:

    SERIOUS GRIMM VARIANT

Might still be an idea to drop that loose ton of ammo for a heatsink in the engine, 'cause hey. Why not.

That's pretty much the build I was thinking, Serious. I tend to run out of ammo near the middle/end of most matches in my Treb with 720, so 1080 would be great.

I'm running the Primary Config (no BAP) and just did a 5 kill 1 assist match. It's a beast!

Granted LRMs are broken now but hey, I'm grinding my Catapults LOL

Just crushed it with 832 points of damage in a round.

Yes, we lost the round, yes I was dead but guess what? 832 points of damage in a C1 is pretty crazy.

I'm grinding my Cats, and while doing so, I've been keeping metrics. I didn't find the Prime or PUG variants to be as fun as the Aggressor Prime, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was scoring 25% higher damage with the PUG variants over the Grimm Prime (and 31% higher than the Aggressor) [based on 10 matches each variant].

I think I'm going to try some of the other suggestions ppl have made in this thread.

These are all excellent builds and very similar to what I have ran for the C1.

Yup, this build rocks. It is pretty much the only build I run in my C1 and it is my heavy dedicated LRM mech. I don't use the AMS though.

Excellent build. Full 5 stars from me.

This is the kind of build that keeps people coming to check out the builds here on Mech Spec.

I like the kit for a speedy jumping LRM-tart, but went with a smaller engine and fewer heat sinks for more ammo. 11 DHS will run the LRMs only for quite a while on all but the hottest maps once one has doubled basics, and the extra ammo lets you be free with the suppressive fire.
