I bought the Butterbee because I couldn't do a pure SplatCat and the C1 couldn't hold enough SRMs for me; I need a more even approach. I experimented with LL/LPL but found the MPLs to work best for me. The build's main weakness is its relative slowness and short reach. It struggles on Polar but careful play can get you within punching range on pretty much any other map. EDIT: Slightly reduced speed, greatly increased cooling efficiency (and therefore DPS). Thanks to Excalibaard for helping me refine the build.
I like this design. Excellent burst, and fast fire, perfect for brawling in an IS 'Mech. I noticed your original title had 3 JJs, obviously one of the things you tweaked to increase heat efficiency. That said, you can switch to a LEngine to get a little extra speed, and those extra JJs back, at the expense of 1 DHS (and a bit of armor in the legs/arms).
Sorry about that; I’ve made a lot of tweaks to the build and JJs have been shuffled around a lot. I don’t really like LFE on this build, though. Not only do you loose the zombie potential of the CT hardpoints, the first side torso to go will tank heat dissipation. You do get significantly more speed, I will admit.
I don't see much value in being able to zombie with 2 MLs. If you manage 20 damage with that after losing both side torsos, it's a miracle. Odds are you're going to die in the next 10 seconds anyway. The extra speed is going to do a lot more for both your survivability and how long you're effective on the battlefield
I've personally always been of the opinion @Shock already expressed: having that zombie capacity is only put to real use in a relatively few number of matches. I would rather have an overall more efficient/speedy build, which will perform better on average, than to have that zombie potential with a STD engine. That said, I realize this is a preference thing. I can say I've seen at least a handful of matches in my MWO career where a 'Mech with a CT laser or two has managed to win it for their team in the end. It's not that zombie potential is pointless; I'd just rather have better results in the majority of matches, and increased speed can make that happen.
