EDIT: the originl build mounted 6xERML, but due to the fact there is a very low arm mounted ERML and there are plenty slots available, it is better fitter with 5xERML and +1 DHS, so this build once skilled it will become even more viable in hot maps.

    Original post:
Make Banshee great again with this build.

    Ballistic Cooldown− 15 %
    Heat− 10 %
    Medium Laser Duration− 5 %
    Medium Laser Range+ 10 %
    Missile Cooldown− 15 %
    Ppc Velocity+ 20 %
    Base Armor (CT)+ 20
    Base Armor (LA)+ 10
    Base Armor (LT)+ 16
    Base Armor (RA)+ 10
    Base Armor (RT)+ 16

-10% heat gen to all weapons, -15% cooldown to gauss, +10% range to ERML (base range is now ~400 meters)... Basically, a very tanky hybrid vomit laser build with most lasers mounted high and which tends to be cool compared to any other similar build.

Play it as your everyday poker, but use at least 3 firing groups:
    • Gauss
    • Every laser
    • High mounted lasers (namely 2xLL and 4xERML, 2 in the side torso, 1xhead and 1xCT)
With maxed skills it will become a beast: skill into heat gen, cooldown and every range you can get. Armor and cool run are nice additions.

So wait, do the Medium Laser quirks apply to ERMLs as well? I had thought they wouldn't, but if they do, that would definitely mean I should change some builds.

It does apply, it's really cool to have ERML with the same range as clanners... Totally unexpected on the receiving end.

EDIT: be careful though, it doesn't apply always... For example, the AC20 cooldown bonus of the hunchback does not apply to the UAC20. The only way to be sure about is either checking the name and try it out in the ingame mechlab. If the quirk applies, you will be able to see it once fitted or directly in the weapons list

Hm, interesting. Another example of PGI's inconsistencies I suppose.

ERML falls in the ML category, not in the ER category
UAC20 falls in the UAC category, not in the AC20 category

Just a completely reverse inconsistency brought to you by Piranha Games Inc. :D

Funny thing is, there are mechs like the TBT-5J that DO get 'standard laser' quirks that buff all lasers that are not ER or pulse or whatever.

    5/5,
This is a really rewarding mech to pilot, being a prime example of the Inner Sphere thing where not only is the mech a more demanding machine to master but it only really starts to get good once you've got a bunch of xp in it.

It strikes me that this is the real difference between Clan and IS. Clan machines tend to be good out of the box and then develop on a steady uphill line as you skill it up. Conversely, IS needs you to make a fit that exploits the quirks and then skill it up to min/max your design choices. This makes for an uphill curve as the xp goes in. I've IS mechs that have literally only come alive when elited. This almost never happens with Clan.

Anyway, good fit - cheers o7
