I saw many builds for the 1DC evolving on range / fire-support. But somehow I'm more into close quarter "brawls" with the BJ's. So on the way to eliting my BJ-1 (i'm using the 1x AC20, 3x MLas build), this one for the BJ-1DC came up from a far, dark corner of my mind. ;)

I'm missing the JJ's on this variant, but in around 20 matches so far with this build, I'm doing quite well (for what I'm good for in piloting in this game - started in Dec, so not a Star-Mechwarrior... yet ;) ).
As for all "melee"-BJ's, with this build too you have to keep moving, stay around your bigger Team-mates and try to not get targeted (to much). And it really shines when you're supporting your Pal - drill the armor with the concentrated 6x MLas and punch in the LB-10x afterwards. So I'm playing this as a sort of escort / close-quarter fire support.
Heat can be an issue, if your trigger-finger gets nervous with those MLas, but it's well managable - chainfire or firing twice with the LBX and then lasers again works very well. (when elited I think it shouldn't be any problem at all).

So what do you think? Something to improve?
    thx

P.S. where do you usually put your ammo? I'm always uncertain with that.... ok, yesterday I got legged for the first time in a BJ after more then 300 matches. So the legs seem ok in BJ's, everyone is going for the sweet ST's or CT.
Hm, what about Arms? They get hit very few times...

P.P.S. Hello community, my first post ;) It's a nice place and thank you all for your contributions. Learned quite a few things here.

    First off, welcome to MechSpecs!

Solid build. Good support Blackjack with full speed, good armor and very nice firepower. Moreover, you've put a decent amount of ammo in for an LBX, something that many newer pilot neglect.

Personally, I prefer my ammo in head and CT first as the legs are always going to have considerably lower armor. I usually use a BJ-1, so, with JJs, I get legged quite often. However, many high level players that see a Ballistic medium mech will go for legs, assuming that's where ammo is, and an ammo explosion can easily wound if not kill you.

Your heat is a bit high as well as your alpha strike, so, if heat is too much of an issue, I would suggest dropping one MLas for an additional DHS. Still gives you a 25pt energy strike and 44% heat efficiency with only basics unlocked (47% with Elite) However, I agree that the 6xMLas is much more beneficial if you can control your trigger finger. The extra 5 points of damage could easily be what opens up those precious internals for the LBX.

Very nice build, and, once again, welcome!

    Chatt.

Thank you for your feedback and the warm welcome ;)

Since the LBX has a higher fire rate as the AC20 I'm used to in my BJ-1, it came somewhat naturally to put in more ammo compared to that. I think those 45 rounds should be enough. However I still have to adjust, as I'm spending ammo on "unecessary" shots with that LBX10 - it feels like "ah, I've got plenty of ammo, so what" :)

I have a bad feeling about putting ammo in the CT. Aye, it has more armor as the legs (usually ;) ) but I finished many matches without a shred of armor left on my CT (not uncommonly on front and rear ;) ) that I worry about ammo crits in CT. Hm, I think I haven't fought many high level players, if at all, so maybe that's the reason my legs don't get that damaged. So I'll put my ammo in the CT (after the Head of course) and see how it goes.

Altough the heat seems high "on paper" - and it is quite high on the 6xMLas Laser-alpha - it turns out to be better managable for me as on my BJ-1X (have that one too, for eliting).
I think that's because the LBX10 generates almost no heat at all, so the lasers get to cool down enough between broadsides as you twist, and shake and reposition yourself for the next shot ;).
Or you can group the lasers into two groups: the 4 torso mounted and the 2 arm mounted and than "chain-fire" those groups.

and my absolute highest BJ result to date (within all my variants)

That match was really intense. Near the end that lovely LBX ripped the RT of an Atlas, but he took my left leg and then had me between him and a Rock - I swear I could see the white in the Pilots eyes! Perparing for the journey to Valhall, I unleashed consecutives alphas for what my little BJ is worth for. I overheated TWICE, but still, that Atlas did NOT kill me... don't ask me how. But, eventually he went down. The score was 11 to 10 for them, so there were 2 left.
Seconds after, that nice computer lady-voice announced that our base is being captured. Naturally I could not counter-cap, since their cap already started. But, Forest Colony isn't that big, so my BJ took his one remaining leg and limped back "home".
On the way an Catapult showed up - blowed him on first shot (he was already cored badly). So now there was only that capper left. And me with only 3 rounds of LBX ammo, but with all Lasers. On the long way back with 40 kph, the cap had already reached 90% and more as I finally reached the base.
There was that last Catapult, hiding behind the Base-Truck-Thingy, because he had lost his RT and was also badly cored. I managed to strife him lightly, as he surounded that truck hiding and me limping slowly to get a shot - and as I nearly had the opportunity, that damn Cap was completed! I must have stepped a bit, a tiny BIT outside that rectangle trying to reach him - damn it!

But that was a nice match, really ;)

I think "unnecessary" shots are part of the LBX10 playstyle. You said it yourself, it's a cool weapon so it's the one you're firing when you're high on heat and still don't want to appear like an harmless target. Also, I find it to be a very nice spam weapon.

very very very nice build! :)

I'd also try this one with more bullets to shoot away from safer Distance:
