This build is all about moving quickly from cover to cover while peeking over hills and taking potshots at stationary enemies (especially Gaussapults/LRM boats). Heat is manageable provided you use your maneuverability to only engage one mech at a time at an optimum range of about 600-800m, usually focusing on stragglers who aren't keeping up with the main enemy force. At closer ranges an alpha strike to the back or head is an instant kill, or two alpha strikes into the center torso with a few Gauss shots in between for cooldown also works very well. So far I have yet to lose a shootout with the dreaded Gaussapult, as it would take them three shots to even break through my center torso armor giving me plenty of time to line up with their large cockpit hitbox and scoring an easy OHK. The main weaknesses of this build are full health mobs (they can't be quickly downed by a single torso alpha strike like partially damaged mechs, taking away some of the psychological impact of seeing the mech next to you take a single shot and explode) or missile teams outside of line of sight. Fortunately the range of this build generally means most enemies take a few rounds from the ERPPC+Gauss pair and others will bolt for cover, making encounters with large full-health mobs unlikely.
Currently tweaking an AS7-K build that follows a lot of the spirit of this one but adds some dual AMS goodness. With any luck I'll have it ironed out and posted within a day or two. The new K is definitely the pricier of the two snipers though...
