This is a PPC build trying to capitalize on the strengths of the weapon platform...
Now there is some glaring issues with heat, but if they fix the double heat-sinks today it will improve considerable, there is a reason for no other weapons than PPC. It is trying to recreate a certain Mech of old...

    AUTHOR: Crankwerk

Strengths of the Build: Decent Alpha Strike potential, very good DPS over any range. Fairly maneuverable and decent speed for an assault.

    Weakness of the Build:
Looses half the firepower within 90 meters, generates extra heat due to having two ER PPC.

    Strategy:
The Chain-Thunder Trym prefers the open ground over close range, it can keep up quite a sustained pressure on the enemy with a considerable underrated DPS potential at any range. When an enemy commits to an engagement with you, you should move backwards to maximize the time you have to use your entire arsenal. It also have a decent Alpha strike for the closer brawls were you need the Alpha strike.

    Note(s):
Chainfire works quite well with this build as the heat management is quite easy to maintain at an even level.
ERPPC variant: Heat Efficiency: 0.92 Alpha ability: Two before Heat Treshold

I was actually going to build something like this, except with 4 ER PPC. I hate min range weapons, especially with the ability anyone faster than you has to get in your grill without worrying about falling over.

I've had a quad PPC Atlas build before with the RS, but I eventually switched to dual PPCs and dual LLs so I had three slots in each arm to place two more double heatsinks. With my old quad PPC build pre DHS, I had a 35 SHS Atlas that could alpha strike three times back-to-back before overheating.

yeah, despise min range as well, but it isn't tenable until they fix heat-sinks, to maintain a decent DPS - If so I will move towards that.

Yeah, your variant is solid - but believe the DPS is lower than my build, but easier to maintain and can dish out alpha strike more often, ingratiating that you would most likely be higher than this build. Not sure about that, as have not run any numbers.Reason I did not utilize any other weapons is was the design philosophy for this build was to only integrate one weapon platform.

The heat is easy enough to control in current form, the min range is a bit annoying I will admit. Tried only PPC -no ER PPC and you need a team to support you. Not very feasible I dare argue. Yet I dare claim it should be quite viable even with 4 ER PPC if Double Heat sink is fixed today.

Once the PPC gets its way in this game i believe it will be devastating.

Currently have it in garage with 4 ER PPC, it`s heat efficiency sits at 1.1, it is manageable, but will be better when double heat-sinks are fixed

As a long time fan of PPC/ER-PPC I would love to do this type of build, but I'm gonna have to grind for the Atlas first. Also, expect the DHS to be fixed no sooner than 6 Nov. No patch until then, as stated by Bryan, also Paul and Garth have said that's the soonest they'll let us know about DHS being fixed or not.

It actually works quite well with the DHS "fix" and 4 ER PPC , the heat efficiency in Mech bay is at 0,92.. But chain firing and the Mech is quite destructive from range. Even dish out a few Alphas, best job for this guy is to engage LRM boats.

EDIT: Thought I'd add an update to how it is to play:
    This is a head-shot menace
I'm a terrible aim, but have so far taken out all Mech chassis BUT Atlas at full health head in one shot at optimal range. Hunchback outside optimal range with full armor was lowered to Orange head and no armor in one shot.

I'm enjoying fiddling around in this Mech from time to time as it is not really my play style, but it surprises me the take-down potential this has, as my other Atlas variants run quite a bit higher damage potential. If you just keep it cool and focus on a specific point on a Mech even at range.

Max damage dealt with strictly PPC variant in one match on caustic was 997 dmg, no kills 8 assists - but before the double heat sink fix.
