So I wasn't sure what to call this build.

    It appears the Armor loadout on Smurfy's is not correct for this mech. RA/LA 81; RT/LT 95/20; CT 130/29; RL/LL 107; H 18.

    Welcome to MechSpecs, ScalyLamb!

Smurfy doesn't take into account quirks, which includes armor quirks.

    Some criticism on the build:
    - DHS are a quintessential upgrade in every non-meme mech! Just the in-engine heatsinks will already save you 8-9 tons of getting on par heat dissipation with external standard heat sinks.
    - XL makes you unable to lose a side torso, and you're in a sub-50 kph mech that can't hide its torso well. This will severely reduce how much you can tank, regardless of armor values.
    - The ranges of the weapons seem kinda mismatched. MRM+LBX10 mean you'll likely want to be within 300-500 meters (makes sense on a big frontline assault), so I'd change the ER larges to regular larges to save you some heat and improve DPS. You'll rarely want to expose yourself at ranges where the extended damage falloff of ERLL matter.
    - You have a bit much ammo for a single LBX10 and a bit too little for a single MRM30. (80 shots with 2.25 sec cooldown vs 20 shots with 4 sec cooldown).
    - Case is unnecessary if you place your ammo in components that generally don't get shot --> not your torsos.

As of now this would be a 1-star build imho just for the XL and SHS honestly, I'd try to build around a Light Engine at least. DHS and maybe an Endo Steel upgrade (if you find the space for it) should make the build much more viable. Good luck! :)

OK These are two modifications with the above Advise, one with endosteel, the other with ferro armor

On the right track there! ES always saves more tonnage than FF, so should be considered first, and take note that your ES build still has 6.5 tons left (3.5 on the FF one), that could be a bigger engine or heavier weapons, or both :)

    This is an example:
