It would be a cool feature to add public lists. The reason behind it is quite simple: due to lack of search options, I found myself not capable of providing an updated list of what mechs I would recommend to other new players. What I'm looking for is to either publish or check person's ...:
    • Favourite
    • Recommended
    • Strongest / invasion / scout
    ... builds.
To be fair this should be achievable via search tool, but this is not easily achievable and there could be more than one instance (i.e.: old builds) which a casual build could work for invasion, or an invasion build could work for scout.

About the actual implementation the simplest thing I could think of would be to reuse the bookmarks mechanics. It could also work for more public lists.

For example: I find a build capable of kick asses in any game mode. I will save that build in my public "QP", "Scout" and "FP" bookmark lists which can be checked by other players for future reference. This, in the end, would look like a YT or spotify public playlist. Bookmarking a single comment is not mandatory, but welcome.

Let me know if anyone else would like such niche feature.

EDIT: this could also work for a single universal list, e.g. most liked / saved / boookmarked Scout build. Adding additional filters (weight class, IS / clan etc.) would be awesome.

    That's a neat idea!

I think the bookmarking tool options can be personally set up in a way that it allows public display of a list of bookmarked builds, so all that's left in that case is an easy way to follow a person's bookmarks and/or an easy way to know that exists. The latter could be achieved with a 'welcome' or 'newbie help' forum, but setting that up with all content takes a bit of planning, or by advertising the existing FAQ more as a newbie-friendly guide and adding links there.

Three separate lists is going to be much more difficult though, as I'm not capable to modify/create the add-in in my own way. I'm planning to get an update soon though that allows for the searching/filtering of prefixes. Otherwise, the report post function can also be used to ask for re-naming/re-branding of the build.

In the mean time, I can also recommend to put your current favorite builds as links in your signature, if needed I can raise the character limits.

    Cheers,

I think there is a bug in "Insert Bookmarks..." button at the bottom page. It let me choose "Content Type" and "Quick Link", but there is only a "Search" button and a "Cancel" button. The latter is to cancel the current action, the former always returns...
So it seems I can't add anything to my bookmarks. Because it search for bookmarks instead of adding one. Am I doing something wrong?

You add a Bookmark directly from the build page (next to quote and like), at least that's how it's supposed to be. Apparently the function is broken, and I'll have to look into that.

Yup, sorry to hear that... In fact there is no "bookmark" option under any thread / post, just that "insert bookmark..." button.

Turns out, 'did you try turning it off and on again' also works for add-ins. Bookmarks are restored.

My short-term goals about this issue are to improve the knowledge about following and bookmarks, as to make the sharing of such lists or guides easier. Planned search/filtering by prefix upgrades and/or a 'matched content unit' or showing random 'advertisements' for other pages on this site under the thread (only monetized for guests) will improve site functionality even further. If that's insufficient, I'll reconsider the idea to expand the bookmarks usability.

    Thanks for the heads-up!
