Well, there is some kind a "Flame War" about the latest Flamers Change currently. Ppl say they are broken, e.g. there is an exploit avoiding any heat, other say they are not working as intended etc. Just read the threads in the official forums.

So question: In your opinion is the flamer "good" where it's at now, yes or no?

What are your experience with the Flamers Change on the battlefield? Worth to use them now? Any better success to overheat your targets? Any viable builds? Best Mechs for Flaming (i guess the Firestarter huhn?)? Etc. etc.

Do you want to change the mechanic again? Tell us your feedback.

btw here is how flamers worked in the good old MW2 Mercenaries:

here is my suggestion for a Flame Cat:

Flamer hotfix going in as I type this.

  3. Seems like less of a flamer issue and more of a macro issue.

They made it so flamers work as intended rather than being able to completely avoid heat. Ghost heat or no, Flamers are SUPPOSED to be hot. I can't really complain about the hotfix in that regard, since cheating heat from the system may technically be the way it was coded in MWO but is still cheating the intent.

Still need to drop in flamer-gasm mechs, though, so holding off on my vote until then.

    I hate it.
All you need is few hardpoints (~4) and few tons (~2 or ~4 depending if IS or clan) to disable almost any mech. That's not what I call balance.
Also, while the long-range laser-vomit formations won't really be hurt (they can catch them coming, at least they have some time to take initial shots) they'll most likely ruin brawl combat. I'm all for increased time-to-kill, but not by preventing mechs to fight.
Basically it's a griefing weapon, and all it brings is frustration. This is not healthy.

Oh, and this is even if they fix the macro abuse.

I tried several build with sometimes success. The hard part : coming into the 90 m of the target and manage the flamer heat. But it is so fun sometimes too.

    My main tests :
Artic Cheater with 4SPL and 2Flamers.
A little killing machine, so easy to approach laser snipers or lrm boat and make them overheat (just hit flamers right when they start firing). But I died several times overheating myself, as a light near several enemies...

No way to use them as I continuously torso twist.

My favorite : poke wirh the LPL, find an isolated prey, rush to overheat them (they always try to fight back) and finish with a nice headshot with the small las. Really you have to try this one !

    Have fun on battlefield
