    Story time!

The setup: This match happened yesterday. I was solo dropping to level my Grasshoppers and landed on Skirmish Mining Collective. Our team starts on the 5-line and everyone starts moving up the right side as usual. Soon after a fight over the middle breaks out, again as usual and both teams are at it. I'm pretty much in the thick of it and manage to kill the Grid Iron by popping his Gauss (gnihihi) and the Thunderbolt before I have to retreat to the ramps in C3 behind the small building.

Now, I'm in the "Triplet" GHR-5H and this is just my third match in the thing. I have Cool Running and Heat Containment unlocked but nothing else. I'm also rocking a Standard Engine, so I'm not overly worried about losing a side torso but I'm not particularly agile. When I retreated to the ramps my left arm was already gone and both CT and left ST are cored. The right side has taken a few hits but nothing major and what little back armor there is is pretty much fully intact. Neither of the exposed components is in particularly bad shape though. I resort to corner peeking the occasional dude on the edge of the center platform, but one-by-one my team disappears until it's only me left against four other guys. Damn, that's gonna end ugly.

The problem is: I have basically no information at this point on what's going on. Their Raven did an *excellent* job of providing ECM coverage so I didn't get a lock all game on any Reds. I know for a fact that the GHR-5N is still alive because we've been at each others throat all game and I didn't see him go down. It's also reasonable to assume that the AC20-Hunchie is alive because the remains of my team was on the other side when I was poking him. I have no earthly idea what the other two are, and I have no real information on the health of any of them as I didn't get any locks. I do have Seismic and Jump Jets though, that's gotta count for something, right?

I hide behind the building on the southern ramp and see a seismic signature on the other side. It doesn't appear to be moving so I decide to go left and poke around the corner. The second I round the corner I see the Grasshopper coming at me and we both fire. He's in midair though and his aim is off, I'm standing firmly on the ground. He scratches some paint, I hit dead center with a 37 point alpha. He finally goes down. Three to go.

I retreat back to cover and wait for the next Seismic to show up. Sure enough it's only one and it's moving to my right. I pretty much have to go right to face him as I can't take much more punishment so I gotta take them one by one. Careful to check the Seismic again I lurch forward around the corner and OH GOD DIRE WOLF IN MY FACE! Instead of doing the smart thing and immediately falling back I panic and alpha him straight center. Killing Blow. I can't believe my luck and fall back, only then I realized that his entire left side was missing and he was probably almost dead by the time I got to him. The poor guy was probably just as surprised as I was, but that mistake could have easily cost me my ass. Two to go.

After waiting for 10 seconds I see no seismic so I carefully poke around the right corner again and that's when I see their Hunchback at the edge of the center platform again. We both fire. He his me in my right torso, blowing off what little armor was left. I got him CT and down he goes. Back to cover. One to go.

At this point I have literally no clue on what I'm up against so I'm asking on VOIP. No one knows either. I decide to get some eyes on the center platform so I jump up my cover and am pretty much immediately greeted by Autocannon fire. It's the Centurion, with a UAC-5 and two SRM4s. He's also really fresh, his right side is open but other than that pretty much pristine. If he gets me I'm boned big time.

I drop down back into my trusty cover and wait for his seismic to show up. Sure thing he comes down the center and starts moving right, so once I'm reasonably sure he's far enough on the side so he can't hit me I jump back up the building and wait for him to show up on the ramp. Now this is still problematic. The Grasshopper has an *atrocious* torso pitch and my only arm mounted weapon was gone long before everything went to hell. He can't come up but I can't hit him without getting shot back, and I'm in way worse shape. We poke each other a couple of times to no real effect for anyone. So we could either sit this out, or...

I make a decision to bolt for the center. My range is better than his and if I can get some ground on him I might be able to at least take the Autocannon off. He's also got to go around the building first, giving me plenty of head start. I had just made it up the ramp on the center platform when I can feel the AC rounds impacting on my back. Damn, he's a lot faster than me. My back armor is mostly gone now and I cannot possibly outrun him, so brawling it has to be. My chances are pretty slim.

We start to circle each other, his SRMs doing some nasty work to my remaining arm and back armor while I'm just barely scratching paint with my lasers. My last arm goes off and that's when I get the chance to land one last alpha to his RT before his SRMs tear me to shreds. I fire and try to keep it on the shoulder as much as possible.

    Victory music.

He had an XL. Unbelievably dumb luck. I think my neighbors might have heard me screaming.

And thus, one of the most memorable rounds of Mechwarrior: Online ended for me. Thanks for listening to the rambling :>

Not exactly a "save the day" story, but hilarious nonetheless.

Someone just told me Juju streamed that game, so here it is if you want to watch it spoiler-free: click here!
So he's pulling out a good match, flanking the enemy and dealing unreturned damage, but he eventually ends the last of his team, versus four or five. I'm in the enemy team by the way. I'm still alive at this point but my BFG is destroyed so all I can do is to distract him, try to DFA and luckily take a gauss shot aimed at a teammate. He pursuing his killing spree and I begin to fear we'll lose, since we're all real sore. But just after he took down one of us, he's one good shot to victory... but he forgets the override and overheats to death

Opposite to the purpose of the thread, but... I've lost last man stands, when it came down to the final 1v1, against an MLX, and an URB. In the past 2 days. -.-.

So my last game for the Phoenix Event was in the SHD-2H(P) 2x AC5 1x AC2 XL255. I was searching for a match when I got a phone call, swore I hit cancel and walked away. I came back and my game is icon is flashing that I was In a game. I completely expected to be dead, whatever, next. NOPE I opened it up just as my last friendly mech died on Tourmaline. Everyone on both teams was saying "GG", "Good Match" etc. I type in many apologies, that I had a phone call, etc. People were pretty understanding, at least the people left watching the game.

I start scouting, thinking maybe I can take a few out. I see a Golden TBR that was very healthy in the distance, get a few shots in then turn away because I did NOT want to fight that at range. So I take my time and circle around peeking for the other mechs, then I spot a CTF, SHD, and SCR. The saw me and were heading my way. I backtrack a bit and the TBR is on my flank. I take out his ST then he overheated and I cored out his CT. Just then, the SCR makes it to me. he is very damaged. Had either just lost his armor CT from my fist shot at him or it was already gone. Structure was still mostly there. I duel with him and take him out just before the SHD come over and he is also very healthy, nothing open yet. The CTF looked open CT as well, but still healthy structure. I see he is the weakest and most firepower so I take him out first asap. Then the SHD and I duel it out 1v1. He opens my CT, but I had more CT hit on him. After a few circles and well placed shots, he went down. I had no idea what was left, only that whatever it was knew I was in that area so I put as much distance from that spot as possible, but still maintaining visual of that spot for when the mech inevitably would go there. Sure enough, I see a BLR show up in that area. I pick a nice crystal to shoot from and just start pounding on him. Went through most of my ammo hitting him at range. No idea what his condition was before he got close, but he wasn't smoking until he close distance. I believe he was a 6-7 ML and 2AC5 build, so he wanted to get in closer. His AC5s weren't hitting me at all. Finally I get target data on him and both his ST are VERY hurt. So I simply aimed left, gone. Aimed right, gone. Stripped BLR. Proceeded to rip off his leg, stip his other leg, and CT core him :D

Was quite the adrenaline rush for me, lots of "WOWs" going around my team. Didn't see what the enemy had to say about it, I was too consumed with surprise and happiness to care! ahaha.

Here is an illustration. Quality degraded upon upload so text is a bit difficult to see, but I show the movement and what mechs die etc to help draw the picture. Map shows Assault, it was not, it was Skirmish, just used the wrong map. The BLR in #5 is the direction he came from. He didn't actually get to the burial ground (hue) until I had already moved all the way to G7

It's been a while since I had a good one of these, but the match I had during tonight's livestream was too great not to share. The raw Twitch video is already exporting to Youtube, but I'll edit and cut the HD version to post here too, since it deserves to be in max quality. But anyway...

    The place: River City
    The mode: Assault
The mech: Grasshopper 5H, one of my Wubhoppers.

We started out on the 2-Line, and since I was in a poptart brawler, I headed out into the water to hop around and snipe people on the citadel...but more of the enemy team went around to our left via B2/3, and I had to pull back into the city. Before doing so, I softened up an Adder and Jagermech, but a couple LRM mechs softened my armor a bit before I could get into cover. Things were already looking bad when I got to the city, as we were losing 1-4 very early. I was determined to do some good before I went down, so I moved in and quickly engaged a few mechs, primarily a King Crab in C2, who was focused in on a TBR. I nearly had him dead, when suddenly one of the CTFs ran around the corner and engaged me (Elrik), and did some damage, but a couple alphas and he went down like a ton of bricks. We are now losing 2-8.

I start using the buildings to poptart at some mechs on the other side of the collapsed highway area, and start scoring some major hits. Despite only having 4 of us left, they would not rush us, so I kept having time to cool down, and I kept getting off free shots with no return damage. The SMN on our team finishes off the King Crab for me, so we're now sitting at 3-8 on the score. I'm poptarting and weaving in and out of cover, and nail their KFX to get us to 4 kills, but when I look up, we've lost another man, so it's now 4-9. Seconds later, I get a poptart alpha in, and ruin the HBK's day, moving us to 5-9. Things were still looking dire, but at least we were doing some damage to end the match.

A DWF comes around the corner as another teammate dies, right in my face, and eats an alpha from me...I get a second off too, but someone steals the kill before I can get his last side torso down, moving us to 6-10, but we're chipping away at them. At this point, it's just me and Max Genius in his BLR still standing, and we are giving it everything we've got. I see some seismic behind the BLR and turn to see the Adder rushing his back, giving him some MPL vomit to make him reconsider, and blasting off a ST as I do so. He quickly tries to leave, but I crit several components before his teammates chase me off of him. Fedayeen's HBK and the Jagermech both snipe at me, so I drop my arty around a corner and disengage; the arty doesn't hit much, but it does tag the Jager a bit. He comes around at the BLR and I, but Battlemaster is blocking my shots at first! When I finally get a clear angle, I finish off the JM...it's now 7-10, and they are hurt badly.

I start taking some pot shots at their IFR, but the Battlemaster finally dies, and they are all rushing me...I hit override just in case, and start playing the heat game. While taking a face full of laser, I fire an alpha...then a blind SRM4 volley, and tag their Quickdraw, killing him. 8-11. A quick MPL shot later (accidentally hit override again and overheated) and the Adder goes down. 9-11. I power up and the CTF is rushing me, I hit override and give him an alpha, but he twists...so I fire the SRM4 as I disengage, just in time to catch him as he twists back toward me and catches every missile on his CT and dies. 10-11, and my team is going NUTS in the chat. The IFR is still on me, but extremely soft in the CT, and I finish him seconds later. 11-11, and I have no idea what's left...then I catch sight of a DWF standing still. What the hell?

I circle around behind him...and the silly ass went AFK, figuring it was an easy win. I took his back, and 2 alphas later, it was all over. 12-11. I. Fucking. Win.

You guys mind if I do a little necro for an old match? No? Fantastic.
Game on Mining Collective. Game progressed as usual, me circling buildings and jumping on top of things.
It got down to 2 v 2, me and a Dire (I believe, been a while) versus a Raven and a Hellbringer (pretty sure). I jump on top of the Hell, as the Raven is hanging back and we tear it apart. I had a slight moment of rejoicing as I looked for the next target. Raven appeared and finished off my buddy just in front of me. Sad face.
We start to duel, I'm landing some hard hits on his ct, but he takes my arm. It has all my weapons! So I begin to furiously jump on him (I don't go down easy). He keeps trying to hit me, overheating and killing himself.
    Many laughs were had.

Long range standoff, then I killed the last 3 mechs with the help of a Direwolf, I thought I had much more damage, fired all the time, but the start of the match the trade was from 1000m, ERPPC range module would have helped this time.

In the end I stripped the last 2, this time asymmetric builds played in my favor :)

Mini story: Last nights game on Tourmaline, was in my Executioner, grinding away to master it. Knocked off a banshee and then a King Crab takes out my rights side, where all my weapons were. The score is only 4-4, so still early and it's a close game. A few harassing shots hit me from their pirate's bane as I retreat. My team has a good firing line going, but so does our enemy. As always, were fighting by the giant O of the overlord dropship, by "theta". I retreat back behind cover and start circling around to the enemy base, i figure that's the best I can do. By the time i get to the base the score is 6-7, we're down a mech and i'm useless, still got armor, but no weapons. I start capping. I know the pirates bane is out there and in good shape, i see him pop up occasionally but he's 2 click out. If he comes to defend the base, i'm done for. Fortunately, my teammates are doing great, we tie the score, 7-7, then take the lead 7-8. (i'm still capping this whole time, and if you noticed, base caps now take 3 minutes or so) Then the enemy retaliates and takes out 2 of our guys. 9-8. Base cap is down to half. Score is tied, 9-9. We have a hunchback and heavy (thunderbolt i think) still left, but not in great shape. The pirates bane is still out there, missing only one arm. One of my teammates curses at him and asks someone take take out that f*ing locust, the King Crab is cored CT. They start capping our base and then take out the heavy, in the process one of their mech overheats? and dies. 10-10, just the hunchback, who's still around "theta" and me versus pirates bane and king crab. Win by base cap started no less than 3 minutes ago. Got really lucky.

It's been awhile since I have seen this thread used and I just ran a match that superbly suits the topic. I will post the video soon so no need for much detail. But essentially it boils down to me ending up last mech standing in a beat up ACH against a quite fresh ENF which of course had to have a long range build. The teams in all their motivation are sweating all over. But, the Zot doesn't give up. Trying to be erratic and unpredictable, I do nothing but hits and runs. Until I finally break through his armor and get bold.
    Rush in towards him.
    Get legged
    And
Just in time blow his side torso open.

  12. Come from behind to kill the last four in a row with only 33 rounds left.
Atlas, SCR, TDR and finally legged the Arctic Cheetah and finished it off.

Holy shit, TFun! I saw that match, I didn't realize it was you in the remaining Jaguar. That was... high-larious, watching them snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. I felt bad for them. I thought that Timber had you when he took out half your weaponry. But... goddamn were they bad shots, and no co-ordination at *all*!

Pulled one of these off earlier in the week. We'd been on a REALLY nasty losing streak, and honestly I was getting frustrated with the 'Mech I was grinding XP on, so I switched to my Banshee-3M . . . sweet pulse-lasers have never been more reliable.

It was actually a very close game, and to be honest, I wasn't playing as well as I could have been --- 10 months away from the game can make one quite rusty . . . I even wasted a coolshot at a bad time by hitting the wrong key. But in the end, I did manage to pull off a victory, as the last man on our team, though I really do wish I could have saved that last Jenner: he was putting up a good fight, and served as a distraction for me to even be able to come out of that fight alive. So thumbs-up to him!

This game is to showcase the absolute power of the LCT-1V(P). Bar the initial engagement (I was scouting) the little bugger was in the thick of it the whole time. Letting its overpowered LPL loose on whatever target that came along. The battle was close and in the endgame only the cored LCT remained,... vs. a cored TBR,...

I will let you watch to see how it turned out!

Be warned. It will take 12 minutes of your life as I haven't cut out a single part of the drop. To make the waste more bearable, some music has been added.

    Enjoy! We certainly did!

The final song blocks the video in Germany. I'll upload a new one later to accomodate those Dudes

So we were playing domination on Canyonlands and I am in an unbasiced Marauder with 4MPL, 1LPL, 2 SRM-6A with a std300. We get the E3/E4 start and they quickly get someone into the area while we are screwing around and put about 20s into the timer. We roll up the outer canyon and set up a firing line behind the butte-lets up on the cliff. I try and do some peeking and poking with the LPL but it isn't going well and I get slapped down to 80% pretty quickly. I also discover that my team has pulled back further around the canyon and left me behind. I decide to pull back as well and take a couple more minor hits bugging out. Then the rain of missles begin I have to hunker down for a while to avoid them. The other heavies decide to push to the dish so I slide out of cover and go with them. Both sides are losing guys at the same rate and we are down to 4 on 5 by the time our other Marauder decides to push up to the antenna and gets killed with some focus fire. They start rolling clockwise around the antenna led by a Warhammer that drops into the canyon. I drop into the canyon behind him figuring I can at least take him out. We have three mechs and they are down to the Warhammer, a Nova, an Ebon Jag and a Shadow Cat. I put the lasers into the Warhammers back as he rounds the corner at the bottom of the canyon and follow for a couple of steps until I see he's turning to come and get some. He comes back around the corner and I unload an alpha into him and take him down. One of my teammates followed me down into the canyon but went the other way for some reason and seconds after the Warhammer's demise a Nova drops down and I put the lasers into him and overheat. He has a bead on my teammate and is working him over but is facing away from me. I put the LPL into his back and don't overheat. He finishes off my teammate and shuts down. 4MPLs into his back followed by the SRMs finish him before he recovers. The Ebon Jag finishes my other teammate and I'm alone. I circle back up the ramp behind the antenna because the Shadow Cat is sniping from a ridge butte and as I come up the ramp I see the Ebon Jag waiting for me. I'm at about 65% and he is around 50% so we quickly exchange alphas and rather than back off he comes forward. I torso twist and take some on the LT and LA swivel back and give him the alpha to end his game. So now I am in the area and the Shadow Cat is not so our timer starts rolling down. The Shadow Cat is sniping at me so I go back down the ramp and bit and put my back to the wall while keeping an eye out for him. With ECM I have no idea how bad he's hurt but he's smoking and I still have full armament and am about 50%. He starts circling counterclockwise staying behind the rocks and I'm trying to hit him with the LPL but not doing a great job of it. We are down to about 15s on the clock and he manages to take my LT and I'm down to 1LPL and 2MPLs. The Cat has to get in the circle and I guess he thinks he can finish me now as he has an LPL and a couple of MLs left and so he closes to the top of the ramp and I manage to leg him. He's still shooting and hopping but that just makes his remaining leg a better target and one last alpha ends the match.

Not amazing - I know - but pretty good for me. 5K/4A - 500dmg. Got the last basic skill too.

I'll put up the screenshot in a bit.

Ok finally had an entry that felt worthwhile....

Tier 2, during the light tournament ergo the odd mech mix, on canyon network in assault mode, prime time USTZ. Mech is a 5 ERML Adder:

Basically we thought at the time they had very heavy firepower as they were volleying us when we came out from cover but in hindsight it was probably just very focused target calling. My team were really good though and we kept whittling away at them and trying to keep them off balance. My ERML beam length meant I was only generally able to land part of the load each time before I had to be back in cover but the low height helped survivability. I was non stop moving and it was just a really hard fought battle. At the end I thought they had us as it was 5 vs our 3 but the other two with me attacked really well jumping into the trench where they were, leaving me with no jump jets on the canyon wall. It allowed me to gut two from behind as they fought. Between them our two attackers finished off another but died leaving it two vs me. The Timberwolf had overheated himself volleying the last of ours down and I used that critical couple of seconds to drop two full volleys in him in rapid succession at about 375m by using coolant. On top of the damage caused by our team it was enough to take it down. That left just me against the Battlemaster and I really don't have a good record against those in fairness! I was playing the angles non stop, firing a volley, moving, firing, moving, trying to take as little damage in return as I could by varying the height and location I attacked from. Didn't help my accuracy but I steadily cut his armour away across his top third and finally took him down. Turned out a lot of people were still watching from the comments after!

Pushed me back up from 8th to 6th in Adders but everything near me is using streaks to cheese their way to victory so suspect I won't get back to 5th where I was on night 1. At least I've almost totally levelled the Adders though from scratch. ;)
