OUTDATED BUILD AFTER 3X LL GH CHANGE

    Armored

Surprised to not see this build after quirks (maybe too much hype around the other TDRs) :)

    Additional Structure L/R Torso 15
    Large Laser Cooldown 25%
    Energy Weapon Heat Generation -12.5%
    Large Laser Range 25%
    Laser Duration -12.5%

Well on the good side its a very focused build and makes good use of the quirks. Unfortunately, for me the weapon mount heights are very poor relative to variants like the 9S and having half the heat generation bonus of a cooldown one makes it a hard sell when I could be in better LL quirked mechs or in one of the really good TDR chassis. It has other drawbacks like having to shield your primary weapon side with your arm mounted laser. Don't get me wrong I have a very similar build that I used for a while but that was more because I can't find anything to do with the mech (I loathe non focused builds that just fill the hardpoints and space rather than build to its quirks so most other builds are weak). That said lets be honest perhaps when the 9S gets nerfed maybe this will be seen more on the battlefield.

I tried this when I first bought the 'Mech, and like Remarius, I found the low arm-mount fairly useless for such a long-range design. It just required exposing so much of my 'Mech in order to get that shot off . . .

I ended up switching to this:

Dropped one of the LLasers for a pair of SRM6+As. Works fairly well, still has lots of Laser power, but the SRMs make for a nice alpha up close too.

Yeap, I tried the 4xLLas build on the 5S when the quirks were introduced and just wasn't able to do anything with it. I think having the single arm laser threw me off because I like to fire in pairs to focus damage and avoid ghost heat, and that lone arm mounted laser just made aiming a pain in the ass. I guess I could try locking the arms, but then I always forget to unlock them. Going with 3 LLas and adding in backup weaponry seems like the way to go.

I have had some success with a 4 large laser build like the topic with 1 less heatsink but almost full armor. Did some tests with ER but i think the duration, cooldown and even (in some cases) heat was a issue unless you are on alpine where the 800+m can be usefull.

Replacing 1 of the LL might be something thou to help the short range battles.

Or dropping to a 270STD works too, probably would go this way in a full energy build, I had really nice stats on the 4x LL TDR before selling this pre quirks, so I thought I'd post this because it could only get better with quirks :)

But I can't test so might be a build that looks good on paper but then it's not as good on the field.
