Yeah it was an intense game...had no idea I had done that well. Was using the 6xML build in the 1E for that match. Runs a bit hot if you lay on all of them but does fairly well when the pressure is on.
Yes, they do run hot. I put 5 ml's on my 3M and elited it can fire three times before overheating. I tried small lasers and small pulse lasers, but the range is just too short.
My best so far, running 5 small las and sitting in the open on a hill. For some reason unknown to me people tend to ignore you unless they have nothing else to shoot at.
Welcome to Mechspecs, Reaver2145, and congrats on such a great score! Pretty rare to see Locusts with damage over 1000.
Welcome! Yeah, that is definitely the best Locust by far. It fits the play-style that is required to excel in a Locust. Very nice round too! Congrats, must have been a thrill. And you are correct, people either ignore you like you don't exist in any way, or they come after you like you're the most dangerous thing on the team. It's the cookie phenomenon.
No idea why it isn't showing everyone's mech... Anyway, I was in a Locust 1V with just basics and no art strike. I could have won if I had just ran and hid and sniped but nooo... Ran into water to brawl with 1 ERL...
So I managed to outbrawl a Dire Wolf and King Crab here: And here I went crit hunting: Maybe not much of damage but I havent mastered locust yet. I have been only playing it for two days now.
This is my final form! https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/lct-pb-pilots-brain-4x-ml-1-dhs-ecm-xl190.8172/
not my damage record in a locust, but i dit cary form a 5-9 back to a win prety epic 1E variant with 6 spl
With the new quirks, I never considered switching back to this build on the 1E. I mean, the 3M got a lot of SPL quirks... however no heat generation quirk. The 1E gives you half the quirk strength, but still has some heat relief over the 3M.... interesting.
Locusts favor Pulse Lasers in general over normal Laser types, because of the faster burst. With the amazing Accel/Decel Quirks these guys received, their ideal play-style seems to be pop-out-from-cover-quickly-alpha-at-nearest-'Mech-then-pop-back-into-cover-before-the-enemy-can-return-fire . . . rinse, repeat.
thats how i play them. the cover is preferably behind the back of the target, and the seismic module prevents suprise when you pop out, and redar dep. stops missile revenge and makes it harder to predict you. the only thing that will ruin your day is a pre ammed dual gaus ore 2 x AC20 mech when a mech realy wants you just run off and go stab somone els in the back ps seismic is awsome, when you poke a mech and it turns to face you, you go back in to cover, you will see when the dot starts to move again and you know by that movment witch way the enemy mech is facing...
