Not buying the pheonix pack I'm pretty late to the shadowhawk party, but now that I have them all mastered I'm looking to dump one of them to open up a mech bay and get a little cash.

Any thoughts on which one? Right now I'm really leaning towards the 5m, it seems the least specialized and basically any build it has can be outdone by the other 2 models.

Just curious which one others have dumped and why?

    5M.
You do not dump your Limited edition Mech 2H. And 2D2 is great!

I don't have the limited edition version, so thats not a factor for me, but I do like that chassis any way. Sounds like the 5m it is.

these mechs are some of the best in the medium weight class, why would you sell them?

I agree, but I only have so many mech bays and only so many C-Bills. It seems like keeping 2 of 3 chassis gives me enough options.

I am with Vergere... no way I am selling any of them. The mech bays are cheap enough to keep, and you never know when a wicked looking build will come the way of that Chassis and you will be dying to try it! :)

    I say keep em all!

sell the 5m? that's silliness. The world doesn't need more streakhawks (2d2).

Streakhawks are effective. You are supposed to minmax and be cheesy. 2D2 is great Streaks or no Streaks.

Damn, that may be why every single post of yours I wish there was a "don't like" button... Min/maxing is not about taking advantage of a broken game design.

PS: I'd sold the 2D2, then the 5M, and never never touch the 2H.

Each to their own about what is broken, and what is minmaxing. And we both know we cannot convince each other on this matter. Oh well, we all preach our own ideas I guess. (except purple mech, I like that also.)

But for the 2D2, you don't have to do streaks, playing with SRM4 is just as fun. In fact at one point I forgo the ballistic slot and go for a jumpy 4x SRM4 2x LLas build, sort of like a jumpy Kintaro. But Ballistic and missiles can be fun.

or, with MLas if you want.

Just saying, even for Kintaro, SRM is a nice choice also, one of mine is armed for SRM bombing and it is fun.

I don't think I'll ever sell the 2H or the 2D2. Ton-for-ton, they're some of the best 'mechs in the game. The big problem with the 5M is that it doesn't do anything as well as its siblings, however, I still can't see selling it.

Ultimately, the Shadowhawk is a bigger, faster, jumpier, nastier, Hunchback.

that might be considered if he had tried it even once, but he didn't. he just threw it away.

"He" mastered all SHD variants, so no, he did not threw it away without trying it once. Thank you.

But since I obviously need to be more specific, here is what I mean by "I'd sold the 2D2, then the 5M, and never never touch the 2H.".
In particular, maybe because English is not my main language (or not my readers') I feel there was a misunderstanding, when I say that I will never touch the 2H I mean I will never sell it. As in "it's one of the best fucking mechs ever".
You also need to understand that I love ballistic weapons and AC/2 in particular.

    So:
    - 2D2: mainly a streak-boat, thus mainly suitable for suckers. Myself am using a shotgun build (LB10+SRMs), it's fun but... thus, I sell it first if I had to.
    - 5M: it allows some fun builds (double UAC/5 for example, or some mixed-weapon loadouts), but in the end I don't really know what to do of it and am always changing builds. So I might sell it too.
    - 2H: 2xAC/2+AC/5 all the way, this mech is a beast. It's like the JR7-F, you just don't sell it. But you might buy another chassis because you're tired of switching to 2XAC/5+AC/2, because this build too is awesome.

I just picked these mechs as my medium so my question was rather which version I won't buy (2 out of 5)

and after all I ditched the 2d2 and the 5m, favoring the 2H 2K and 2D

Eventually, I will have it, but not yet. I can easily say I have no fun at all with streak even if they can do a lot of damage. So the only thing I'd use it for over the other variants I picked would be 3xsrm6 and 1xsrm4, too few to justify.

I need to see how it goes with SRM now, and I can do it with the 2K (I prefer high in the side torso too).having 3xSRM6+A it's enough for me :D

It was an hard decision between 2D and 2D2, but I went for the 2D because no other variant can mount 2PPC and anAC10(or 5 with incredible heat management) on the same side. Well this was because of the 3/3/3/3 I have to admit, for a variant with highest ranged pinpoint with no heat penalty.

    the other variants I just wanted them, 2 ac5 and 1 ac2 on a medium ? 3lrm10+ peek out10% of the mech to tag@ 96km/h (with 5JJ)? how can I miss those :D

5M builds can be done on other variants and the 2D2 for me would have a single interesting build over the others :p

On the other hand, bringing that almost 80 point blank damage build you posted on the field(now improved with jumpjet!)....... :D :D :D
