    Regarding your question about 30 FP (in client) vs 40 FP (Smurfy's) for some reason in the client, each MG registers as 5 points in the FP total. Don't know the reason for this though but it sure makes MG boats look powerful.

    I've been trying my hardest to use the OP's build for the last 3 days, with little success. I find myself constantly overheating on the hotter maps, my damage numbers are terrible (under 200 every match), and I rarely score a kill.

    I've destroyed a component here and there, and can get assists, for sure. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong, unfortunately. Especially when I see people are able to crank out 1k damage with the same build.

    It's strange because it's not a hot build, and it looks pretty easy to handle at high temperature since you have a lot of option to fire without generating much heat.
    You need to pay attention to your heat level, and when you're in the red only use the weapons dealing the most damage per heat. In the case of this build, the LB10X (5 dmg/h) and the MGs (no heat). When you're a little cooler, you can use the streaks (2.5 dmg/h). In chain-fire you can precisely control the amount of heat you generate and stop at the right time. Last, the MLas (1.25 dmg/h). The MLas can be used instead of streaks when you're looking for a precise shot (in combination with LB10X and MGs of course, great at destroying damaged components).
    You need to set your weapons groups in order to be able to shoot all 4 weapons separately.
    Refrain yourself to shoot shoot shoot kill kill kill when you're in the red. Also make the most of these cooling times to reposition yourself.
    It leads me to another observation: heat management is also a matter of positioning (everything is a matter of positioning anyway). Most of the time, you're overheating because you set yourself in a position you had "no other options" but to take your chance and shoot (or, under pressure, forget heat management). In a bad position it can be really costly to stop shooting (though it's much costlier to shut down). But in a good position, because you have cover and/or teammates, you most of the time can cool down safely and be back in action in no time.

    edit: of course it just general thoughts, it's hard to know what you actually do wrong without seeing you play.

    (it's not only about this particular builds, but all of them)

    PS: if you want another DHS you can remove a JJ and shave 0.5t of armor from the head and arms.

    This build is all about mid to late game in a round, the natural enemies in the early part of a round is lights. You can't go up against a undamaged heavy or assault alone in the early stages of a round in this since you can't do enough pinpoint damage. This build spreads damage and exploits weak armor.

    Let's breakdown what happens in a round.

    Early
    People setup, take popshots with PPC, large lasers, Gauss and LRM's. After about three minutes, accumulated damage makes some mechs rotate back from the front line or one side starts pushing a flank. More armor is lost, more mechs start to get hurt bad and we see the first kills at roughly 3-4 minutes in. Maybe even earlier but generally there's a kind of small breaking point here. The flank is where you want to be, gang up on isolated enemies. Don't overextend into their main force, nibble and push with the team.

    Mid
    There are some pretty banged up mechs in the flock or staying behind the first line. Now comes the match break, where a push fails or succeds, where positioning and builds, accumulated damage matters. If the Shadowhawk build in is thread makes it to mid game relatively fresh, it can do some serious damage. Always move, mind the heat, hit targets of opportunity, twist them up and create chaos for your teammates to explore.

    Late/end game
    Now nearly all mechs are hurting bad and the build will work excellently in taking down enemies that are already hurt.

    @Lan
    I couldn't have explained it better. Great Analysis.

    @Jook-Floyd
    I would like to know how you play this build. If you go against Assaults and Heavies or even a bunch of them early or you go against fullarmored enemies you are not playing the build correctly.

    My general tip: Either you wait until second half of the game and take out damaged targets, or if you want to play more actively from the beginning, simply focus on Lights first or single out some careless enemies with your Buddies. You need someone to take the lead while you swirl around your target and focusfire at the STs or Rears.

    This will sound silly - but one of my problems was that I was still running standard HS. I had start the build from scratch (it can be hard to fit everything in the torso the first time through), and I guess I had exited out and forgot to repurchase the DHS's. Derp!

    That said, I started following the above posted strategies. Much more success, now. Thanks guys!

    I run something like this (doesn't have the MGs) on my Shad-2H and it works well. But last night, I kitted out a WVR-6R with the same build (XL300, LBX-10, 3xSSRM2, ML, BAP, 352 pts armor) and I played both for a few rounds. I liked the LBX-10 in the arm. The swing is amazing and the Wolvie has a better torso rotation than the Shad. Both the arm LB and the rotation made for easier brawling and dealing with lights and other mediums sent against me.

    Still the combination of LBX-10, ML, and 3xSSRM2 is a solid weapon load out and damage potential for a medium.

    ^ Exactly this! this thing is a monster at take downs. It exceeds at taking down breached enemies frighteningly fast. Once you are through their armor in any torso location they are toast. This loadout just evaporates internal structure. So harass & light hunt with it, til the fight starts in earnest, then bat clean up and you will see redonkulous damage and kill numbers out of it. Just don't try to be a in the front line despite your speed. LUV THIS BUILD!

    I'm a believer...
    finally splurged for this build. and it's been a monster. I'm not quite as good as Blagg yet with it, but 2-4 kills and 600-700+ damage has been the norm over the past few days. What's more, i survived all the matches. This build scares a lot of mechs away, not sure why :phear:

    ^ this! This build is all about harassing support and light hunting early game...late game it's the angel of death. It will shred any opened up mechs very quickly.

    I have recently came back to MWO after a long break and with all the clan mechs running around I needed something with some punch to it. This mech absolutely OWNS! Thanks for the build.

    I am not getting the higher damage as you guys are because games just arent lasting very long anymore (I think?)

    But getting 400-500 dmg and 3-4 kills with lots of assists works for me!

    I´m running this build slighly modified.
    Replaced the XL300 with the XL295 from my BJ-1X and the SSRMs with SRM4 and added one JJ.

    Thanks Blagg for the inspiration ;)

    Yes, unfortunately this were no good rounds for me. I had several games yesterday with 450-750 dmg and 2-4 kills. I´ll post some screenshots the next days. I love how SRMs work now ^_^

    Zohm's version looks best, though I drop 1 JJ for a bit more armor.
