I have a great time running this light supporter around. Just stay nearish to the front line, and let loose. Most of the time people will ignore you, so you can punish them quickly. Always be aware though that you are slow and squishy. Once they focus you it's typically over. COU-PRIME
The support role in MWO doesn’t really exist, other than few specific cases, and running build with others, but I digress. All I’m saying is in this game try not making anything in that mindset if it’s for QP, maybe for FP. Also running atms means either having lots of speed, or a considerable secondary arsenal to push oncoming enemies back within atm range or in some cases just boat enough of them to stay in the back and shoot(but please don’t).
In my experience this runs just fine in QP. It's my 2nd most used mech after my Adder. Actually it might be the first mech I maxed the skill tree on. I pick a "battle buddy" heavy or assault at the start and stick to his butt. Of course staying out of the way, but essentially playing like a scavenger. When people focus on my buddy, I pound them at under 200 meters with ATM's. Sticking with a group typically prevents underrunning, and forces your opponent to make a decision. Shoot the assault/heavy beating him or hit the cougar. 9/10 they ignore the cougar. So you can pour damage in. When they realize what I'm doing they might turn to focus me, but that's another mistake as my buddy should take advantage of not getting shot at to punish them.
I saw Larsh running something like this on YouTube. Runs hot. I might be inclined to go with 4ERSL or even 4SPL instead of the 2MPL, but I'm going to try this first. _ Here's the video: Here's another: Just wanted to edit and chime in that I've been running this as my primary Blood Adder build, and it's a blast. The heat is manageable, and this little guy can really wreak havoc.
