At a guess, you'll spend much of the battle in shutdown with this build. I just grinded a Highlander 732 to Elite - with Standard Heatsinks, since I had no CBs left after the purchase of the Mech. I was shutting down at the drop of the hat. That's probably what happens here, too. You'd overheat just using lasers only or AC2s only. If you ever use them together it's "Dranozir killed Dranozir" time
If you have your weapons set as such, you won't overheat easily. The AC2's will keep you hot, if you keep firing them. Fireing all 3 lasers will still give you a heat of 50%, but will only stay there if you fire the AC2's. 1. Arm laser 2. torso lasers 3. chainfire AC2's 4 All AC2's. 5. Torso AC2 (just in case arm weapons are too low.)
By dropping a LL, you can come back to stock engine and have more DHS, I think it is a more viable build :
Well, that means that you can use either-or, but never both. It seems somewhat redundant to carry two sets of mediocre primary weapons that effectively fill the same role, instead of pushing one and bring some secondaries. Example: Replace the AC2s with (U)AC5s - less 1, and drop the lasers from 3 to 2, remove one DHS, and you'll have this: Just a quick and dirty example: You can actually remove stuff and end up with more firepower, sustained dps and cooling. Between hot maps and the heat nerf, I think a build should either separate between different weapons that are not used together (such as LRMs and MLAS, for example) for alternate firing. That way, you don't actually need as many heat sinks as the build says. Or you emphasize main armament that can be kept moderately cool, with secondary backups that can at least be fired together with the primaries once or twice, and almost indefinately if they are used exclusively. I noticed this with some older builds, on some maps, once the heat is up, it takes a long time to bleed it off again. So I'm not as cool with hot builds as I was before, but that's just my 2c.
Merged Duplicates. Not something I'd think of but original. I dropped 1 AC2 and spent its tonnage all over the mech for super crit slot usage It may be interesting to do this in a 3D as well, add a JJ somewhere
That's quickly developing in the classic 'Clan Buster' 3D - 2x UAC5, 2x LL, 2x ML (blue print for the same loadout on the WHMs): Starts like this: ... and probably develops into this for additional punch: ... and finally comes to this:
except that's removing the triple LL (requiring another arm), removing the AC2s, and wholly different I'd prefer to run the clan buster as it would certainly beat the 2AC2/3LL build in burst and efficiency though.
Oh, I like the 3 LL + 2 AC 5 one for both the Ilya and the 3D quite a bit TBH and might give those a try after I finished my FP challenge. Definitely looks playable to me.
Sorry for double : i make a 3x AC2 search but its was a 3xAC2 in the first post. That why i didn't find the original post. This build is very hot. But good at long range.
