Well my main drop deck as of now is a RVN-3L with the usual 2 Er Larges and ecm, another 35 ton light that I really don't use, an ON1-VA that's a close range brawler, and a BLR-1G that has a varied assortment of weapons but leaning towards close range engagements. Though I like this setup, I feel that having more mechs that can pull their own weight is better than having a single mech to depend on to really make a difference in a game. Because of that, I'm looking for medium mechs to help me get under that tonnage limit!
I really appreciate your post! Thank you for putting so much effort into it. As of today Blackjack's are on sale, I might have to go take them for a spin!
@HelterSkelter The Raven? Perfect! More than pulls its weight if you are good with it. The 35 Ton you don't really use? Firestarter? I thought it was useless too as I have one in my drop deck but then I went and got 5 kills with that mech alone in a single defensive CW match and thought "Hmmmm, when it is needed it can shine!" As for the ON1 and the Battlemaster? Can't really speak to those. The rest of my Drop Deck is a DRG1N and a Macro'd KING CRAB.
@Michael The Orion in my deck is actually what grounds it! A 73 damage alpha with a brawler is nothing to laugh about! In fact I'm glad I haven't encountered the build I use myself! What I'm hoping to do is to push out the Battlemaster in favor of some lighter and faster mechs to help my deck out.
The alternative I see is a lot of Grid Irons just ghost a TBR or DRG-1N etc that people will try to focus down first as people underestimate the GI so much.
Like I said though he sensibly used others to draw attention away from him and rips through anything which ignores him.
I see a lot of love for the BlackJacks (damn abbreviation that will lead to obvious jokes, so I have to type the whole name). If you had to pick 3 with cbills, what would you get?
BJ-1, BJ-1X, and BJ-3. Hands down. The BJ-1DC's lack of Jump Jets really hurts it with the 235 engine cap. The 1X can get up to 116kph, so, you still have that survivability, however, at 93kph w/o JJ? Ow.
What Chatt' said. I know some people who like the -1DC, but very few, and there's a global consensus about the 3 others being better and more flexible. Also, if you're enjoying the chassis, the Arrow will make a fine addition to your garage.
Trebs, Hunchbacks and then Blackjacks. I like Versatile Variants, the Jacks have no Missile Variant and only 45tons to bring to the battlefield. Cents have no JJs and lose RA too fast
It's difficult for me not to choose the BJ-1 over the other variants, having played 900 matches in that particular one alone (23.3% of my total matches) but the chassis itself is surprisingly flexible with loadouts and skill levels. The other mechs are really good, too, but the Blackjack is the best mech in the game for me.
