30 pinpoint long range damage on a 3 second CD with 50% heat reduction and a 15% velocity boost. I probably wouldn't get too attached to that.
They will do something like 25% heat minimum. Especially after streamers just running 8-12 TDR-9S' and wiping out clans. Nothing should out ppc an awesome (IS side).
Damage is really a thing that can't be evaluated on its own. For example on my 13 kills I used ERPPCs, Gauss, and UAC5s only. 2000 of that kind of damage is for sure more valuable then even 3500 from LRMs. The game with SirHitman was pretty funny too, because he was using the strategy he has shown in the video for most damage for a single mech . TDR-9S is the best IS mech right now for CW, no question, even not having it it's pretty clear (I use builds less pinpoint and less range, and with XLs, and do pretty decent, so it must be a beast, and one can bring 3 no problem, and even pack a blackjack to complete the deck). It is one that is going to be tuned down for sure.
It's a good point, fx8230. In fact, that match I got 13 kills in, I was using my dual-Gauss CPT-K2 the majority of the match. And another match later on, I got just over 1000 damage overall, in only my K2, but with 7 or 8 kills. Was kinda crazy . . . But yeah, pinpoint kills are worth more to the team than high damage, if that high damage is just spread around with little kills.
And even when you don't kill, walking around with a cored CT doesn't give the enemy the same combat ability, and makes thing much easier for your team. Also being sniped with a gauss or ERPPC makes most people back off without even spotting/trading back (and still you know where they are), and that is helping too.
Sure getting the kills can sometime be important however I think the most important thing is to prioritize your target, anything sticked or legged is not on the top of my list of targets to shoot at. I only eject if im not effective in combat like the battlemaster LRM without ammo and not close enough to the battle. However i mostly just push up to the gates and sometimes even out to put some extra damage down on the enemy still having time to re-spawn.
I think we all get caught up with stupid damage meters and being rewarded so much more in cbills with higher damage doesn't help. I don't play my dual gauss Jager much in solo/group or now CW because of the misconception of mediocre damage in the end even though I get kills and core people out quickly. You can single handily keep a few enemies heads down by yourself. But... When you eject / die and see that your damage wasn't amazing you question your performance. And I don't mean killing blows any lucky guy can sweep a laser across someone I mean solo kill/most damage done. I get that all the time on Dual Gauss but low killing blows (luck) and so-so damage (precision hits).
I definitely notice a lot of solo kills/most damage done on my Hellbringer wubmachine and my DRG-1N, though those mechs are designed to put a lot of hate into specific components as fast as possible. Oddly, I also seem to get an inordinate number of them on my Ember, even though I disengage a lot. Apparently my aim blows with most of my other mechs (DWFs don't count. They live for high damage )
As long as I can achieve 1000 damage in solo games I'm happy with that but if I'm in a CW game I am playing for keeps. Minimum ammo expenditure, usually means less damage output but more longevity, and maximum body count (helping my team). There are several matches where I have 6+ kills with only like 1500 damage in CW. This is where I am not farming but blowing out CTs or legs.
14 kills is my new top. Did some 3500 damage to so im happy with that. Lost my BJ to a stupid jump on the wall making me fall over into the enemy do it did net me about 1300 damage, 2nd BJ gave me another 1200 i think.
The number here isn't as impressive as how I got it. Dropped into my DRG-1N as my third mech just as the Falcon team made a big charge into our right/their left path. I rolled out my Dragon and facetanked them, just focusing AC fire into every CT I could see. I died about 60 seconds later with 8 kills, and blunted their entire charge. Every other kill I almost had got stolen from me right before I fired the final shot hehe, but I had 19 Most Damage Done awards that match
My best so far... I was lazy and didn't hunt down the last two HB at Beta. I could have probably solo'd them but I've been drinking a fair bit today and didn't want to lose my Raven. The blow to my pride would have been unbearable so I eased up cause I was banged up pretty good.
Yeah, record the match and count! Nicely done. I'm still hoping to get 12 kills sometime with a single mech in one CW match. I know getting 12 spread out doesn't unlock Death Star, but I wonder if getting 12 all in the same mech will do it...
CW does not do anything to achievements. EG it won't increment component destruction count, or headshots, or assists in any weight class.
If you want to get the Death Star do what many people in TryHard units are doing. Make an evening agreement with another 12 man and then cycle through the list. One night everyone on your team gets it, the next night everyone on their team gets it.
