Which Orion(s) Should I get?

Thinking of getting Orion, either a single one of three.
Othere than the CT problem how do you guys think about the variants?

My take without buying them.
All variants have the same engine and ability it seems, difference are the hardpoints.

ON1-K
4e1b2m. For some reason makes me think this may be a decent energ weapon variant, but the tonnage may not be enough to support both the missiles and the ballistic. Guess you have to choose one.

ON1-M
3e1b3m. Not sure what to do with this one. You can make a zombie I guess, but... Zombie would be a joke given that giant CT.

ON1-V
2e2b3m. Oh unless you go for the hero the only one with 2 ballistics slot. You may need that if you want to go with things like 2x AC5. the missile hardpoints are nice also. Maybe I should get this one?

ON1-VA
2e1b4m. LRM boat or SRM boat? Seems nice as this is the goto variant for missiles.

PROTECTOR
3e2b2m. does not seem to be impressive for a hero. Even the max engine is the same as the other...
Ironically, the "poor man's Atlas" turned out to be plagued by poor man's problems. It's nobody's fault, of course; it's just an unfortunate combination of several factors that makes this mech suffer. These include:
•ballistic slots in side torso;
•too few ballistic slots;
•bulky composition;

Hi all! I just got this mech and I am messing around with builds. I usually play light-medium mechs, and I will play this Orion more like a medium than a true heavy. This build is close to what I want, but something is missing -- your feedback would be appreciated

My main requirements for this build are:
* I want to run 70kph+ (hence big engine)
* Have AMS because Orions need all the survivability they can grab with that giant torso.
* Have something long range to poke at people while closing (I really wanted a gaus, but couldn't fit. Dual AC2s are surprisingly powerful, but definitely not enough ammo on this build).
* Be able to handle lights that constantly circle of death bigger mechs(reason for SSRMs)
* Large Pulse Lasers are by far my favorite weapon, as I generally am a mid range harasser and sometimes brawler. I love these in the arms for great angle shots.
* Be able to operate in hot environments without overheating every 10 seconds in constant battle....
I bought my 1st Orion at 11 sept, the V type. after 17th sept I bought K and VA version. Elite level done, but not Master. After 277 match with my favorite ON1-V, I got the decent fit for me:

I know I am not a great mechpilot yet, but done 700+ damage with my AS7-D. Usually I do 400+ damage with this Orion, but best is about 651.
What can you advice to me? Change weapons, or change playstyle for more damage?
Or basically CAN DO more than 700 damage with an Orion?

ok so I got the protector, and thought I'd share some of my thoughts ( and some I've heard from fellow pilots who've given it a run ).

At it's heart: the torso.
So there is one big issue with the protector, it's torso, simply put, it's ALL CT, there is no side torsos to speak of, every single one of my many deaths was loss of the CT. This might well have one advantage, if the side torsos are not taking damage then an XL engine is more viable. Ok that might be contentious, but I think we'll see xl engines in these as standard. Additionally , this thing is big and slow, I suspect running an xl 325/250 or even a 360 might be the way to go.

AMS as standard.
I've never seen any other mech go down as quick under LRM fire, AMS is a must have feature on every build.

Battlefield Role?

Brawler - Due to the torso 'issue' this thing can't brawl, it saddens me to say this, and while its got quite a selection of brawling loadouts, the fact every point of damage goes on the...
